4000 rpm tap

4000 rpm tap
I posted a while back about my Z tapping at around 4000 rpms and stopping afterwards and not tapping before it. I was told that timing could be the culprit and also the plugs. I tweaked the timing and changed the plugs and the PCVs and the tap is still there, pissing me off. I did gain like 50-60 miles on a tank of gas though, liked that. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this tap. I have no warning lights or anything but the tap is still there, I just dont want to run full throttle until I can figure this out. Any help is appreciated.

Update
Today I am checking the VTC and I was told that both of these can cause "ticking" in the mid-range of rpms if they are going bad. So if this helps anyone else, first check to see if oil is leaking around the two VTCs, because if there is, there is problems most likely. Second check and clean the connecting wires. If all this is ok, I did some research to find out how to check these valves and was found that one should disconnect them and supplying them with battery voltage between the two terminals on the connectors. I will give this all a shot and hopefully it shows hope for ridding the tapping.
I am also going to bypass the FPRV soleniod today also to hopefully help my intermitant rough running engine and hesitation. Has anyone else done this with positive or negative results?
