1990 TT Intake cam question?

I own a 1990 TT Auto 82,000km, recently the vtc cams have started to make a ticking/grinding noise around 4000rpm. I have a 1991 DE parts car which I know for a fact has good cams, forgive me if this is a dumb question but am I able to just swap them over as usual? I don't see why not but I read the TT auto's have slightly different cams so I thought I'd double check.
Thanks alot Z's

Probably just need new VTC Cam springs, or Cam Gears. The cams themselves are probably fine.
