02 maxima engine(vq30) convert to 300zx(vg30)
i have a 92 300zx with a bad motor and i have a 02 v6 3.0 maxima engine laying around (vq30) so read on a website http://z31.com/repairs/newengine.shtml how to convert a maxima engine into a 300zx engine but on the website the guy used a 88 maxima motor and i think he used a z31 300zx. but i got a new maxima motor and a z32 300zx so i was wondering if it will work the same and if i can convert it.

Just depends if the Maxima motor can be mounted frontward instead of sideways. You'll need to check the clearances, and see where the motor mounts will sit. You will also need the VQ engine harness and ecu, and both wiring harnesses to see which wires will need to be spliced / tapped.
Remember: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH $$$. :D Be realistic tho... why not sell the VQ motor and buy a VG30DE motor??? That would save you A LOT of time and headaches. |

thats what i need is the block. ill take a look at the engine cuz i got both of the engines at home but i dont know if the zx heads will bolt on to the vq block.

and btw, '02 and up Maximas had the VQ35, not the VQ30. |
if the blocks were the same on the VG-E and DE wouldnt people be swaping the heads all day long into their Z31? or at least having alot of easy swaping the DE into their Z31?

unmmmmm... replace easy with people, and thats what i meant. and what you just said makes them different block designs. different oil/water pasages, mounting points... thats a different block design. they might be based on teh same concept being iron and a 3 litre V6.... but different blocks then. you guys lie

What he should do is sell both V6 engines and buy a RWD VQ35HR from a 2007 350Z. 306hp (265whp) :D

GTR = TT 500BHP |
i thought that the block from vq30de fits right into 300zx and uses same engine mounts.

rebuilt or used 300 blocks arn't always that much. you could pick up a complete 50K Z32 engine for about $1000. maybe 2000 give or take for the whole job if you skimp a little.
