What stage am I?
Hey guys (and gals, if there are any on here), I've found several different places that post modification stages, but they're all different. What gives? What stage would you say I'm at with the following mods.
Ashspec ECU Stillen Hi-flow intake Stillen Cat-Back exhaust Specialty Z downpipes Specialty Z mid-pipes w/hi-flow cats UR underdrive pullies (crank, w/p, alt, p/s) Greddy Profec B Boost Controller Lightweight flywheel 1 piece aluminum driveshaft ACT clutch Z1 TT radiator Z1 TT oil cooler Skyline brake kit Eibach pro springsTokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks Midori style adjustable front upper control arms Adjustable tension rods Dupree subframe spacers I know it's based off of engine performance mods and that suspension mods don't make in the stage, but I just threw everything in there for the hell of it. |
wouldnt it be a Stage IV+ 1991 Pearl White Z32 TT (soon to be Stage VI+)
j/k :D um i dont really know. i like to use the stillen one, but i lost my magazine so i couldnt really tell ya too much 1=Hi-flow Intake, 2=Exhaust, 3=computer, 4=pulley, 5=ignition upgrade, 6=flywheel, 7=intercooler, 8=boost controller, 9=racepipes, 10=cam gears, 11=injectors, 12=turbo upgrade, 13=exhaust manifolds, 14=NO Injection, 15=cams, 16=E.H.Plenums, 17=Pistons, 18=connecting rods so it looks like your at stage 4 with 6, 8 and basically 9, i dont really understand the "+" thingys. |
I'd say IV ++, on the verge of V
|
Thanks b300z, smartass. That's the frustrating thing. If I went off of what Stillen shows, then I'm an ignition upgrade away from being stage 9, but I've learned that an ignitoin upgrade is only required when you have a problem with the spark getting blown out. 15 psi of boost won't do that. I think I'm somewhere between V and VI.
SGP has this listed.... I. POP Charger/Underdrive pulley : 305-325 HP @ 10 psi II. ECU upgrade : 365-380HP @ 12-14 psi III. Test pipes/Gut precats : 385-400HP @ 12-14 psi IV. Cat Back Exhaust : 400-415HP @ 12-14 psi V. Boost Controller : 420-435HP @ 15psi VI. NOS system : 490-505HP @ 15 psi (I won't do this) VII. Intercoolers/Radiator upgrade : 495-510HP @ 15psi (Have the radiator) VIII. Twin POP Charger : 510-525HP @ 15 psi IX. Ported Throttle Bodies/Matched Intake : 515-530HP @ 15 psi X. 555/740/850cc Injector upgrade : 530-545HP @ 17 psi XI. Sport 500 Turbos : 555-575HP @ 17-21 psi I'm not going over this, so it's kinda pointless to continue, but you get the idea. With this, I'd say I'm stage V+, but it's just another one of those things where it depends on who you talk to. NOS isn't the kind of upgrade that everyone is going to do because of how hard it is on the motor, so I don't think it should be listed as stage VI. If I were designing thhe boost stage cart, I'd put it in prior to turbo upgrades. Also, clutch, flywheel and driveshaft upgrades aren't listed. I can see myself getting up to IX within the next couple of years, or I guess it would be XIII since I'm not doing NOS, or would I still be at V+. Either way, I'm changing my sig. |
I don't think it really matters what your Stage is, more so your rwhp or track times, that's a better measure of your Z's performance, the stage things are a marketing ploy, people want to buy more parts to get to a higher stage.
|
Damn marketing people. Anyways, it looks like I'm between 425 and 450 HP until I start doing the more major stuff.
|
I'd say youre around there too. Mine was around 410 and you have UD pulleys, driveshaft, and flywheel over my ex setup...basically freeing up more than I had...so I'd say you're edging up there. Keep it up. You need intercoolers next, then upgraded turbos! :D
|
woah guys...i dont want to show off or anything, but i think im pushin about 260 hp, which i think is somewhere around 210 at the wheels, is that a good assumption? its good enough for me though
just as long as its faster than a saturn or honda if it wasnt for the ignition upgrade, i would be at stage 6 once i got my ecu and flywheel in yea, we should make our own chart with other stuff like clutch, suspension, and drivetrain upgrades |

Since I have the new truck, it's kinda difficult to spend all my $ modding the Z. I've put a chip, intake, cat-back exhaust, hi-flow MAF and a throttle body spacer into the truck. It has about 375HP. The next thing is a set of headers which will take me to 400hp. After that I need to focus on suspension. I'll probably do a 4" lift with 33's. The final thing will be a supercharger. It's be sweet to have a 500HP car and 600HP truck sitting next to each other in the garage. Add that to my 18HP lawnmower :D and that's a sh*t load of street-legal horsepower in one garage. |
I had my buddies GD split downpipe and testpipe on there.
|
youre truck sounds like it'll be sweet!

you guys have way too much fun with your vehicles
and 91, lets race lawnmowers, i think mine has 20 on a lucky day i neutral drop it sometimes when i get bored mowing the lawn. its such a piece. i went up a hill once and did a wheelie, i thought i was gonna die for a minute, the front of the mower had to be in the air for at least 5 seconds. |

did you guys forget this already? I kinda already did a stage chart. But what do i know. :( *sigh* |
That's stillen's chart.
|
And everyone knows what we think of Stillen.
As for lawnmowers go, check out www.dixiechopper.com. I want one of those! It can mow an entire football field in 9 minutes!!! I'll be getting a new mower next year. Ours is a real POS, but it gets the job done. It's nice having abeater because I don't really care if I hit a rock. |
id use the chopper on the left
thats the thread where i pulled the stillen chart from, sorry i didnt quote it rizz i think im gonna work on a chart, but if my mom asks, im doing homework. |
