I finally found that clay that i was looking for.
Yup autozone sells it. Although it's not just the clay bar by itself.
That would be too simple
The Clay Magic Perfect Finish kit is what i got. $10 comes with clay bar and I'm not making this up, "Clay Lube." Mother's had a more expensive kit that came with wax but i have like 4 bottles of wax i haven't even used yet so i didn't need to spend the extra $.
Thought this might be something to add to the detailing collection guys.

RPS13_GZ32 Aug 29, 2005 01:38 AM

hehe....you said "lube"....j/k

See, this thread is interesting, but nothing in it applies to my white primer paint job :D so I'm just whoring up some posts here (almost # 400!)

so how do you detail the white primer finish? spray it again? :D

emo236 Aug 29, 2005 09:48 AM

Yea, Rizz, that's the same stuff I have. I don't think you can ever buy the clay bar by itself, at least I've never seen it.

v0va Aug 29, 2005 01:10 PM

I was went out to Murrays that day just to check out the claybard and the cheapest thing I found was like 20$ like the whole kit, i said screw it and I went home

b300z Aug 29, 2005 01:22 PM

ive never used a clay bar before

would it really be worth it along with the three stage wax kit?

emo236 Aug 29, 2005 01:30 PM

Not too too much on a darker coloered car. It's a lot of work. It helps out lighter colored cars A LOT!

v0va Aug 29, 2005 04:23 PM

This is the size I need the hose, I couldnt find my measuring tape so I improvised, if it fits around the tennis ball or Z throttle body, I'm good...

Clay bar is worth the time no question about that and worth the money. The thing is it takes so long to do the whole process that alot of people skip a cleaning step. You have to wash first with water, then soap, scrub, wash, clay bar, then wax. You have to wax after clay bar or its a waste of time. After just using the clay car the surface is so slick anything you put on the car will slide right off. Clay bar removes the layer of dirt over the clear coat, that soap and scrubbing wont take out. You have to wax to put a sheild over the clear coat. The best way to is to use the portor cable 7424, now that sucker will give you a showroom shine. Its worth every penny long process but worth every minute you spent cleaning it. Im gonna shut up now cause i can keep going nothing like a freshly cleaned car. My 2 cents

waterdogzx Sep 28, 2005 08:37 PM

I've always liked Meguiars Gold Class wax and Eagle One's premium wax, although the Eagle One doesn't last as long so lately I've beem using the Meguiars.

What's up with the Zymol? I've heard it's good, but I've never used it. I know BMW recommends it.

z32gizzle Sep 30, 2005 04:29 PM

Well whatever you do guys dont use that Armor-All Wax-It-Dry Gel. I put onto my black 95 z32 and within literally minutes I started the Buffer Machine on the car and It was caked on already I had to pay a detailing company 400 dollars just to get it to look semi-normal but it was caked on so bad my car looked like someone took a wire brush to it when I got it back. The next month I had to get the whole think Sanded,Primered,Sanded,Primered,Painted. So yeah I wrote a note into Armor All saying I spent a total of 3,400 Dollars which was my TT swap money to get my whole car repainted after what their Wax-It-Dry Gel did to my car. I never got a return letter. Just thought I'd let my fellow Z owners what to stay away from.

And Take into mind this was at 6pm at about 70 degrees cool climate.
