Vg30dett Swap HAVE A QUESTION

I have a 1990 300ZX

I want to swap out the non turbo engine with a TT

I've noticed that the vg30dett's wired for automatic are muchhh cheaper than the ones wired for 5speed trans.

Which leads to my question. Can I just buy the cheaper engine wired for A/T and swap out the ecu and wiring with a 5spd ecu and wiring??

I've calculated this up and it would be muchhh cheaper to do this if its possible. I would also use some parts from the old engine (vg30de manual transsmission) that aren't messed up to save even more money.

I'm just trying to get the TT power without spending a sh*t-ton of money.

Yes you can. That's how I did mine. Just be warned that the automatic engines had slightly smaller A/R ratios on the turbo. Also the cams are smaller lift on the automatic. I swapped my n/a cams in because they are the same as tturbo manual cams. I Mic'd them back to back and the difference in lift was significant.

If you upgrade to a tturbo flywheel you will need to clearance the transmission bellhousing. If you keep the n/a flywheel then you are fine.

what is your budget and how far are you willing to go? I did a TT swap myself on my 2+2 and got to tell you it wasn't cheap. I spent next to 17k in parts and a front clip. Front clip is the best way to do the swap because everthing you need for a stock tt is there. Bewarn that most JDM turbo's are bad as they have been sitting for 10+ years. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
