timing belt replacement, water pump etc too? Cost?
My Z32 Convertible has 97k miles. I know the timing belt should be done every sixty. But, since I'm not the original owner I was just thinking about doing it now to be safe. The belt looks to be in decent shape so I assume it was done around 60k. Anyway, I see timing belt kits for sale that include everything including the kitchen sink! Is it really necessary to do the water pump etc? The dealer wants about 2200 for a slew of items related while they are in there. Independent shops seem to be at 1800. What is the norm? Tips to share?

I have read, that it is wise to change it. Because of the difficulty of getting to it. (water pump) I do think it is a good idea, to change out the belt. Because you are not sure. I would in your position. So I take it, you are taking it to a shop, to do the work? If so, they are killing you with the labor. I can't tell you much more. Good luck man.

thats way too much bro.
firestone will do a timing belt for like 500, and they suck. I have everything done at performance shop for under 900. Entire 60k and they threw a new set of plugs in. |
