Timing belt change
 

I'm taking my car in to the shop for a timing belt change, reason being is I don't know the last time it was changed or if it has ever been changed, I have a 1990 300z Na, my mechanic is going to change the belt water pump thermostat and check pullys hoses and radiator rust, is there a specific timing belt that I should request from him? Should I see some increase in power? Anything else I should ask him to do or check while he is in there? My mechanic works on a lot of z's pons mechanic shop in Miami he seems pretty knowledgable with these cars but I guess the more info I get the better choices I make.

Nissan parts all the way. If he can't get them for you, order them from someone like Timing Belt Kits :: Maintenance :: 300ZX Parts (Z32) 1990-1996 :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com, get the kit, it will have everything you will need.

From a quick search, you will be looking at between 500 to 700 labor, thats calculating 8+ hours at an average $85 an hour. Having said that, its a fairly strait forward job, you could do it yourself. If the cost isn't an issue, and you really don't want to tackle it yourself then its all good. If you have a decent set of tools and a place you can work, get a manual, or download the FSM XenonZ32.com Reference and give yourself a weekend. A lot of satisfaction can be had wrenching your own car. You might also be able to find a someone local in the forums who could help with the install. Either way, good luck :)

Ordered the parts and although I don't have money to throw away I'm going to go ahead and let the mechanic tackle, I'm pretty handy with mechanical things but these cars seem pretty temperamental and I just don't want to f---k it up, I'm also looking to do the the tranny just because it's I know I'm going to have to get her done soon, any tips on that? I have an automatic non turbo, any tips? Thanks again!!
