thinkin about gettin a 300zx
right now i have a 280zx 1982 turbo, its a great car, really good condition, all original except for the stereo, nice swazi rims...but im lookin to get something newer, like a nice 300zx 92' at a fair price, i was actually hoping to maybe do a trade plus cash, without the stereo, would do you guys think would be a fair price for that?? and what year would you guys recomend? and any other opinions would be great

Look on ebay, kbb, nada, and autotrader to see what the average prices are. What's the plan w/ your 280zxt if you get a 300zx?

anyway, as for favorable year.... that's all about preference. Aside from early early early 90's which had "solf valve" problems leading to bad compression on the 6 cylinder (there were only about 300 cases of this, and about 39k 90 Z32's produced, so it's not likely you'll get one that hasn't been fixed already), the 90's didn't really have any more issues than the other years. Back to preference.... what do you value? weight? 90's generally weight less because of: aluminum vs steel calipers, no airbags, some other minor details power/tuning? Anything but a 96 Auto, because there still isn't an aftermarket ECU available for the 96 Automatics yet. And really, the 96's don't have VTC which will help maintain good gas mileage while making the same power. (There's been no documented proof that the 96TT's had 20hp less, though it was a commonly accepted rumor, but the fact remains that the 96's do not have VTC and had to compensate with different cams) Safety? 93 or 94+ (I think) had passenger side airbags, 92+ had drivers side airbag standard, 91 had optional drivers side airbag Looks? We all know the 90-93 stock TT spoiler owns the 94+ TT spoiler, and the blank 90 nose panel owns the Nissan badged 91+ nose panel =D Brakes? 91+ came with brake ducting that the 90's didn't have. The later steel calipers dissipate heat better than the earlier Aluminum calipers there's more small differences, but that's all I feel like typing right now. |
you for got that the 95 platinum silver > aztec red ;)
its also easier to get a computer chip upgrade cause the 16 bits in the 94+ dont rank in a lot of tuner shops :( |

But Cobalt Green of 95/96 owns all other colors... (btw, offtopic kinda, but I'm considering repainting my car this winter... I like the Diamond Black Pearl, but I'm thinking either a Black Metalflake or Black with Purple Pearl, cause I think it'd look incredible... what do you think?) |

I would personally like blue pearl more, but purple pearl is a very cool hot rod type of thing to do and IMO would be awesome! Go for it.
