Tell me about the 90-96 300zx

Hi, so I'm new to this Forum and am looking into a 93 300zx TT 5 speed. $4500. BUT it has a salvage title, it's been fixed. Unsure of miles. Also needs a new head gasket. No rust, interior seems to be just fine, no rips in seats. If anybody has the time, can you just tell me alil bit about these cars before I contact this guy?

OK, off the top of my head, sounds like a bummer. 'Salvage' from what? Six-feet of flood water? Electronics are gonzo then - even if it starts. "It's been fixed" how and why and with what parts? 'New head gasket' is really big bucks because muy mucho labor. The 'low' price sounds like he's maybe dumping it for a reason. You need more facts like number of previous owners, mileage, maintenance history, etc.

Get the VIN from it and download your own CARFAX report for it on-line before you do anything else. You may be looking at long term non-stop headaches with that car that will turn you off to Zs forever. They are great cars. Just get one with a known history and less mystery. I'm just guessing of course... It's not that hard to find a Z around that age for sale by the original owner. He probably has records for it and can look you in the eye when he answers your questions.

way over priced. the guy is looking for the greater fool to buy his mistake. if you are a good wrench you can probably fix it but not for that price.

get more info

Get more information as to why it is salvaged, then go look at it, all over, find anything that needs repaired and point it out. His $4500 is his hoping price, I'd offer him $1500 cash and negotiate up a little as possible, and if he is a dick, just walk away.
