Sloppy Manual Shifter

Hey Guys,

I am new to this Z32 forum (I have posted in the 280zx forum though). I have a '92 N/A with a 5-speed trans. My shifter is VERY sloppy. When in gear, any gear, you can move the shifter from side to side about an 1 inch each way from the center. It always goes into gear as I have a new factory clutch and flywheel, but that sloppy shifter gets on my nerves. Is there some kind of bushing that can be replaced or can it be adjusted? Just looking for some advice. Thanks in advance.

Colin

Yor shifter bushings are bad. I had the same problem and just bought a ebay short throw shifter for 50bux. There are alot of places you can get some good bushings.

Very inexpensive part and there are a few write ups on how to do it. Not hard took me about 45 min to put in my short throw shifter. Or go over to www.splparts.com and they have oil impregnated bronze shifter bearings for 20 bux.
