She's ready to roll

Hey guys/gals,

Been busy with the Z. No where to the extend of the likes of 91 but hey, Mine is an N/A 2+2 Auto...so were not going to go too crazy .

Here's what happened...installed headers, Brembo cross drilled & slotted rotors, PBR Axxis metal master pads, Goodridge stainless steel lines, 300 degree master cylinder brace, 4 new injectors and appropriate seals, replaced all connectors, installed 1pc drive shaft, replaced rear main oil seal, trani mounts, custom down pipes, custom exhaust from the cats back (kept the pipe diameter at 2"), new coolant sensors (both), new oil pressure sending unit, replaced all injector connectors, Cleaned out EGR, reset timing to 15* (don't get me going on why it wasn't there in the first place...just say dealership and let it go ), Injen intake pipes, painted calipers (black), touched up engine bay a bit, new radiator, fresh new fluids all around.

Running nice, sounds good (deep but not too loud, louder than stock though). Low end power still leaves me wanting (like I said N/A 2+2 auto) mid and high bands are awesome! Car just keeps pulling .

Hopefully, this tempremental beast has finally been tamed once and for all. No suspension work yet. Rear shock are getting soft. When it is time to go there, I will replace all 4, go with eibach sprints, adj tension rods and arms and likely sway bars and subframe spacers.

It's good to have her going once again. Feels like the first time (that one is for CC and his Foreigner theme post).

I'll try to get some new pics up. I'm kinda technically challenged when it comes to these things . Thamn pics are huge!

Ha........ that sound like quite a bit of stuff. Getting into the egr is getting in pretty far. You replaced alot of those pesky little things that start going bad on a 12 year old car............. good job. Post some pics.

Guys I would loive to but I obviously have no clue what I am doing. These pictures are large, too large to attach. When I go to reduce the size, I lose the picture clarity.
If someone wants I can email them some pics and they can get them on here. I'm sure one of you know what you are doing.
Jeez I suck

Oh yeah, to B's questions...5 weeks in all. I took the Z down to my mechanic who is a Z specialist and drove back and forth, here and there to work on it with his help and guidance. I could have did it on my own but it would have taken me twice as long and I really needed him to be involved as a certified expert to witness and record all the F'ing crap the dealership messed up on. Now with all that, I have a meeting next week with the dealership owner (convenient for me, his son works for me).

Nice job Dan. Did you notice a difference with the Master Cylinder brace?

I did, I deliberately put on the brace a few days before putting on the new rotors, pads and SS lines. In my opinion, the brace gave me the biggest bang for the buck. Well worth the $40

A pound of flesh if possible. Perhaps some form of reinbursement at some level. I doubt that will happen. Simply put, these guys need to be told they do not have a licence to print money at the expense of good people who are looking for the dealership to be professional and properly service a hard earned asset.
I can and gladly do most of the work on the Z myself but if a major job was required, I want a reliable and honest mechanic to do the work. I go that route because I don't have a lot of time (biz travel, charity functions, etc that I am involved in) and I am fortunate enough to be able to afford it. This is my 3rd Z and I bought a US car that was in all ways sound but had no provable service records. To be safe, I took it in for the 120k service. Quite frankly, that was a crap load of money spent and in return I got a Z that was less reliable than when I took it in.
The service manager was drooling when I brought the Z to them, perhaps he was seing the $$ symbols. If that is the case, the owner will now know that all those future $$ are kissed bye bye for him and his dealership. My buddy and peer here at work will no longer take his G35 to that dealership either. I'm going to make sure they know why.
Thamn principal is what this is all about.

If the owner gives me the cold shoulder or become ignorant/beligerant and will not accept what I will show them in writing, I will consider making my point louder by initiating a small claims court action and reporting them to the Provincial Dealers association.

I'm stepping off my soap box now. Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for the offer B, I will email them to you this evening when I get home (PM me your email address) and I'll make sure to get some night time shots of the glow panel for you.

that sounds exciting.

i always like to hear about a person standing up against a dealership and their trash.

our nissan dealership here was in some hardcore sh$t because they bought twice as many cars as they could afford, and then failed to pay Nissan for them. i had an appointment there once to get somethin checked on, but they never got around to my car...so now ive got a new Z shop to go to.

The mufflers are "Ractive", they flow well but are quieter than many we tried on the car. We tried mangaflows, sebring, borla. The Ractive was the choice my mechanic insisted would be best for the sound I wanted right from the beginning. He was right. The tips are Vibrant, each oval is 3.5" (I wanted 3" but I got used to these real quick. They are not thin in make, very solid).
We put on some custom pipes to come off the headers (2.25") but then kept the stock system in place from there back to the cats. Pipes from cats to muffler are custom but remain 2" OE size. The idea was to keep the sound down. It worked well. Sound is very reasonable and opens up when on the throttle.

B, I would appreciate it if you just put the pcs up. I'll just F it up.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

How difficult was it to install the MC brace?

10 minutes. Take out the two bolts for the fuel filter support. Slide in the brace. Pop the bolts back in. Adjust the brace bolt so it is snug up against the master cylinder.
I had to do a very slight grind on a corner of the brace so it would sit flush to the body. It was a very slight grind. I put one on my buddies Z yesterday and It dindn't need any grinding at all.
In both cases the bolt holes lined up perfectly.
This job will be a freakin vacation compared to everything you have done.
