ripped/rusted frame

I went to change the oil on my z yesterday, just bought it thursday, and discovered a huge gash in the frame. I can pretty much put my hand into the frame rails.

Is this something that can be repaired? I know you can weld some support back but is that going to cost me an arm and a leg?

thanks.

Chassis is most likely trashed, pull all useable/sellable parts and send the chassis to the metal recycler.

After pics of course.

I recently purchased a z32 (2 weeks ago) and the car has many dings and a hole here and there under the car. I have fixed similar issues on other cars before this is what I do
1. Check to make sure the body is straight and not bowed. (The area around the hole will be deformed, but you don't wan the car tracking down the road)
Yes? See step 2. No? Sell car.
2. Clean the edges of the hole up with a file or dremel (or both) :s-chainsaw:
3. Get some sheet metal, remove the carpet from the interior and patch it up, be sure to layer it where it needs support (on all sides of the frame rail) ---> |_|
epoxy the sheet metal where it overlaps the good body metal and weld it at the seams.
4. (optional) grind down the welds and bondo things flush to make it look pretty.
5. Undercoat or paint the bottom of the car! You don't want to do this twice.

Done! If you have a welder and basic tools it will take you less then a day!
