Rattling Noise Inside Engine

Guys this is really ticking me off whenever I warm up my 1990 Z32 TT there is a rattling noise on the right side of the engine. The sound diminishes when the engine is warm but when I raise the RPM rate the rattling noise gets louder and louder can someone help me because my friend and I have no clue what it is. We think it is a lifter but not sure. Thanks

Matt

Is it more of a quick ticking sound or a rattle like sound?

Sometimes an injector can be the culprit rather than a lifter as you may be suspecting. I would suggest ohm testing each of your injectors to see if they are in spec or not. Having done that and all is well I would suggest the next obvious route and change your oil to a heavier waite to see if you get a difference. All failing I would say you need a lifter job.

the last time i had a rattling noise in my motor was when the timing belt had 2 inches of play between pulleys. thats what happens when i held off on the change a few thousand miles. ;)

Well does it sound like this at all? Is the sound coming from the behind the timing belt covers?

Mine does it when it's real cold and some times in warm weather. The noise goes away after it's warmed and some times leaves completly. Performance of the car is fine it's just annoying.

Well had mine hooked up to a conzult and turns out it's my VTC springs. I ordered new oem ones just waiting to get build up some courage to pull my radiator and fan to get the covers off. Just not trying to pay someone 300-400 for the install for a $5 part.

Hope this helps but unless your there the sound could be a few different things. Just telling you cause your symptoms sound like mine. Good luck hope everything works out for you.
