I have a very simple question are all PTU use the same? I'm looking online and I see a lot of people selling PTU's. Some of them say from 1990 to 96. Some say it only works for certain years. My question is are all PTU's the same? If you can give information on how we can tell which PTU is right for our kind of car

PTUs were recalled around 93 (check tt.net FAQ for specific year if you need it). Early Z32s need a subharness to fit the newer PTU, but every PTU left on the market SHOULD be the newer style (due to the recall), and you should've already had the recall (1-800-Nissan1 if you don't know). If you see one for sale that is not the new style, DO NOT BUY IT.

 

if my memory serves me correctly the old PTU's had cooling fins on. I'm sure the ones I'm looking at are the newer styles if that's correct.

 

All newer style PTU's for the vg30 will work with all vg30's with the correct subharness. I have a box of PTU's if you want one, $40 shipped.
