Nose Panel Off?

How does the damn thing come off?
I unscrewed the two screws that hold it down in the engine bay, and I can pull that side up a ways, but how does the other side unhook/unscrew.
I only ask cause I don't want to break anything.

There are 4 screws that hold the panel on. You probably didn't unscrew the 2that hold the nose panel frame in place. The frame is black. The 2 screws are located to each side of the hood latch mechanism.

From the factory they are held down with 4, but most people only put the 2 obvious ones back in. Re-read 91zxtt's post and find the other two.

I don't think the other two were installed. I got it most of the way off but quit cause I was peeling paint off the bumper. Someone painted the car and left the rubber strip between the bumper and the nose panel on. The paint lifted off the bumper cause I didn't notice that they were connected. We need a new bumper anyway as the lip is busted through on it. Was gonnah clean the MAF, its gonnah have to wait now though. Gonnah clean the MAF and the TBs next week. Hopefully cleaning the MAF will help it burn less fuel, although it has gotten progressively better since we got it. Thanks for the help guys.

... it may just be paint holding it on if your sure there are no other bolts hold it on at the top.

I only found two bolts. They were on the engine bay side of the panel (you have to open the hood to get to them). I took them off and (I think you're right) the paint was the only thing holding it). I can't even see a spot for screws on the bumper end of the panel. I stopped when it started pulling the paint up. Tomorrow I'm going to run a razor blade between the bumper and the rubber so that no more paint is pulled up and then remove it. Then I'm cleaning the MAF. Possibly on the way to better milage... High ho, high ho...

Reading comprehension owns you... bad. Especially considering I told you to re-read this...

We're not talking about the bumper end of the panel - there are 4 bolts from the factory on the engine bay side of the panel (none at the bumper end). There are the two that you already found and there are (or were at some point) 2 other screws under the hood that hold it on.

It may just be paint holding it on... or the other 2 bolts might still be there, you just didn't see them because you didn't re-read 91zxtt's description of "each side of the hood latch mechanism."

Either way, good luck with figuring it out. But you should read more carefully in the future.

All I wanted to know.

And so you know; I reread and went out and looked a couple of times. In fact, I acknowledged twice that I had got the ones on either side of the hood latch.

Thanks for the help!

yup ^^^

and the snout (front end) has sort of i guess built in rivots (more like slides/dowls) so you have to slide it out toward the back of the car and up, wont just pop straight up.

Today:
cleaned the MAF
Throttle bodies

Put on new cooling fan
Replaced fuel filter
Replaced Acc. belt

Seems to run smoother and idle better.

I ran a can of seafoam through it and it hasn't missed again. I think that the car sat for a long time before he sold it to us.
