Sounds like the alternator. Take to a competent shop and have them test the charging system.

Hey Rizz,

What is your opinion on the 1990 300ZX TT? I realize it is fist year production but they are out there for reasonable prices.

hehe Lol newbs!

Sorry, had to laugh at that one.

The reason that you see more 1990's is because that's the year that the most models were sold.

I never said that i didn't like the 90 models. They're just not my preference. I've met ppl that bought theirs brand-new, never had problems. On the flipside there's also those that bought new and used that have had nothing but problems with the year. It just happens that way. But in all honesty, a tt is still a tt. A tt will always be, regardless of year, a sexy timeless classic.

Rizz is right. Keep in mind that the 90 model year was brought to the country in 1989, it made a huge first impression, there still was a sportcar market at the time, the price was relatively low, and so they sold a lot of cars. But the truth is that, normally, the first year of production, of any car, can be the most troublesome, even after all the years of development. My cars have been relatively bulletproof, knock on wood, and my daily driver is car # 1030, built in March of 1989, but there's always an element of luck with any car out there. A friend of my bought a brand new Pathfinder a few months ago. Waited about five weeks to get THE EXACT ONE he wanted, drove the thing for about 800 miles, waisted another month going back to the dealer's service shop, because the car would simply quit on him for no reason, nothing could ever be found, and now he's having to use the lemon law to get his money back and get another car.

The tips are no problem, that's what we're all here for.
As for your question, the answer is not yet. In about 8 months I'll be done with school and then I might start looking at the 350Z more seriously. Also, I LOVE the last 280ZX models, which are the cars that got this whole sickness started for me, and it would nice to get a cool '70 something 240Z some day, so no, not yet by a long shot.

Paid 9k and needs nothing mechanically. Has 4 brand new sneakers and new brake pads. Came with a 2 year old HKS stainless exhaust performance exhaust).

Needs minor plastic trim interior cosmetic work, along with black metal exterior window \ door trim repainting and a few minor dings on the rear quarter.

All stock engine with aftermarket Kenwood but still houses the original Bose speakers. Boy...if I was Bose, I would ashamed to put my name on that stereo system!!!

Thanks. Yes...it was a good find, as I spent 2.5 months looking for the right price with quality results. I flew to Virginia to check it out and flew back. Dealer picked up the cost of my plane ticket (such a deal!).

Plan to only install JWT ECU and intake upgrades to the engine (POP package). I will upgrade the rotors to drilled\slotted with SS lines and better pads.

Car has 97,000 miles on it, with 22,000 miles in the last 16 months alone.

Do you wanna save your shift ****? If not just have at it with a big ol pipe wrench! If you wanna save it, prepare to be frustrated. Try wrapping a several shoptowels around it. I say shop towels cuz I've found a regular towel will slip when you put a wrench over it. Good Luck.
