mixed feelings so far.
I love the car, it drives perfect, but there are some things that i overlooked before buying.
The wheels, yea there are 3 left wheels and one right wheel......
The body panels didnt seem to PERFECTLY match, mabye 1/10 inch on each side, the front (in front of the doors) seemes to be about 1/10 inch to the left (pass).
There is some body work welding the left fender and wheel well on where it meets the driver rear corner of the engine bay, and the driver front corner as well. There are little rust bubbles (still body color and not brittle) around the outside of the pass rear fender well, on the bottom of the hatch door, and on the driver T-top. The seam on the seating surface of the driver seat is popped, but the leather is in PERFECT shape all around. The AC belt broke (no biggy) but everything else seems fine. No engine problems, and no braking problems.
I do have one recommendation to any Z owner thinking about getting a body kit. DONT. The front plastic underbody protector of my car was removed when fitting the bumper, and when replacing the belts i broke the rusted-out bolt that the alternator was floating on. Luckily this is not a proprietary part, and i can just match it to one with the same threading.
Also there is one loose brake line. I do not know where it goes or if it needs to be somewhere, but the brake cylindar that that the reserve tank is sitting on has two lines running out of the pass side, and a phillips plug in the driver side. There is a loose brake line hanging out near all of this, not plugged into anyhting, but i do not think that it origninally went here. It is bent and formed to plug into something lower in the engine bay, possibly into the clutch cylinder. But the clutch works great, i know that it was replaced at 60k, and the brakes work wonderfully.
The car has been repainted, i think it was in an accidnet, and the bottom is rusting. I am taking it to ZIEBART to have a "rust eliminator" job done and to have them spray the black lining over the entire bottom of the car to prevent any more rust.
I don't know if i am asking too much out of a 14 year old car, and mabye i am looking for something that does not exist (at least for $8,500)
Just frusterated that the car isnt perfect i guess.
All of your input is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
MIKE
