just bought my first Z32

Iam tottally stoked over my new Z, i got it for 5000, the interior and body are flawless, all stock, every light and option works perfect, there is something wrong though, i think the turbos are out, the boost gauge dosnt go positive, it has about as much power as a 4 cylinder, and it is blowing very little exhuast out the tail pipe, it also starts, fine idles fine, and doesnt miss fire. What do you guys think?

Also i just tried to order the factory service manuel from the sticky they said they no longer sell nissan manuels.

Welcome to ZDriver!!! :038:

Did you check the online manual? http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi

As for the turbos... time to start digging. Check all the basics first... wastegate hoses / lines, make sure the wastegates themselves will move, make sure all the piping is secured & has no leaks. These are all things that will make the turbos "feel" like they are acting up. Is the check engine light on?

grats, but thats probably why you got it for $5000

also do an ecu diagnostic. check thru rizz'z link page below for more info

thankyou i checked both of those links, and i have spent about 6 hours reading old posts, it sounds like ill have to pull the turbos to check them, i figure if i do that i might as well replace them the car has 140,000 miles, i was thinking z1 gt 525, or jwt sport 500, the check engine light is NOT on, the car isnt getting the exhaust out, so i thought it was either the catylatic converters or the turbos,

if you havent yet, check your boost solenoids. i had a hose come off once and my turbos would not spool.
if there is no problem there, i would say your turbos are siezed. you will have to pull the engine to get to them

impossible that a disconnected hose would cause such a problem. In fact, it would cause the opposite problem - the turbo would spool continuously until it detonated your engine or fried itself.

Wastegates are naturally closed. They open when a certain boost level forces them open. Thus, if the wastegate line was not getting any airflow (as would be the case from a disconnected boost solenoid), the wastegate would never open. If the wastegate never opens, the turbo continues to produce more and more boost.

If reinstalling the line seemingly remedied the problem, it is likely that there was some other unrelated problem and it was a coincidence that it went away when you fixed the line. Repairing a problem and having another problem go away does not guarantee that the former was the cause of the latter.

You might try a boost leak test.

im aware of what a disconnected wastegate will do. but i had a hose pop off what i thought was a boost soleniod. i had no boost until i plugged it back in.
