Joining the z32 ranks.

well, it's official. my z31 days are limited, it will soon find a new home to make way for a z32. not sure how soon, i am going to take my time and look very carefully. i want a manual NA with under 100,000 miles. my price cap is in the $8000 range. i found a '94 slicktop with 80k in great shape and was going to get it, but i called the guy, and it had been broken into the night before. the stereo got ripped out and the dash around the stereo got messed up. now he doesnt want to sell it till its fixed . i am going to keep talking to him and see if i can work something out, but the hunt will continue. test drove a '93 2+2 with 70k today, mechanically felt great, but it had a few too many door dings, and the 60k service had not been done, and the guy wanted $10,900, which is a bit steep. i am leaning towards a 2+2, cause i am 6'4" i seem to fit better in them. i am not going to rush into just any car, it needs to be pretty perfect (in my eyes anyways). i want full service records, great body and interior, and great mechanical condition. i am in no hurry and will wait till the right one comes along. anyways, i'll keep you guys updated on the progress.

You have a really good sense of what your are looking for, and it is a very realistic approach. I hope you find exactly what your looking for. Good Luck and welcome to the world of Z32s.

EDIT: That slicktop sounds like a pretty nice deal, but personally, if you have the funds to find a really nice NA, I'd leave that dinged up 2+2 for something better.

If it helps your decision any I've got a 93' NA 2+2 T-top with 122,000 miles on it, 66k+ I put on myself and I LOVE my car. Period. Yeah, taking it to the shop is expensive but thankfully that doesn't happen very often. I live in an area of Southern California that has more than a few 300zx running around and I find that I STILL turn heads when driving....I'm pretty sure it's the car as I'm not SO vain as to think it's because of my stunning good looks

Oh, and as far as leg room goes I stand 6 foot 6 inches and weigh in at 320 pounds. Room to stretch with the seat all teh way back. Course' nobody is going to be sitting behind me, ever, but then again I didn't buy my baby to use as a taxi now did I?

the descision was made years ago when i saw a z32 for the first time, the means to acquire one in the condition i want have just been made availlable. as far as room goes, the 2+2 i drove did have plenty, one of the most comfortable sports cars i have driven. that, and i save around $100 every 6 months on insurance if i get a 2+2.

make sure to look around on forum classifieds. You find the best cars there. Both of the TT's I bought had ads on tt.net's classifieds.

^^^ Except you can find an equal to better condition cars at less $ off the forums.^^^

There aren't too many grannys & gramps selling their cars on the forums. I know a used car dealer in north hollywood that gets the cream-of-the-crop trades from a local nissan dealer. They're priced accordingly, but they've all been pristine. He doesn't even touch TT's because of the problems with old ones.

my first one was one of the cleaner one's in SD. Got it for $7500. It never had too many issues other than regular stuff.

My first I got from San Marcos. That was the n/a. It had tons of mileage, but ran great, looked great, had all the maintenance records, the owner was a 50 year old teacher, and the price was right. The TT I just picked up was very much the same, except it looked better, had low mileage, had not only maintenance records, but it had research material, the Nissan Maintenance guide, also. The price was a little steep, but I didn't feel ripped off at all. I had to travel to Menefee to get that one. Those are long drives from San Diego. Not crazy long, but long. But, now I have two Z's. My n/a daily driver and my TT weekend romper. Many of you don't know this, but Entropy and I are very good friends that met in the Navy, so I more than anybody, want him to upgrade from that Z31 he has. It is good for the year, but has it's little faults. The deal he is getting is sweet, so I am very happy for him. But, my Z is still better. MUAHAHAHA

dammit, there are too many automatics out there. i have found quite a few that i would be very interested in if not for the rotten slushbox. i know some of you are going to say just do a tranny swap, but i want the car ready to go the minute i buy it. whose idea was it to make so many damn automatic Z's??!?!??!? the z31 i have is auto because it was the right deal at the right time, but i am sick of it.

yeah, the second i saw the dings i knew i wasnt getting that car. there was some curb rash on the wheels too. and all the maintinence had been done by "this friend of mine thats a mechanic", and no 60k service. too bad, it was that rare sapphire blue they started in '93, first time i've seen that color in person, and it looks good.

Alright guys, sorry to break up the party, but I have it on good authority that this whole "I'm looking for a Z32 to buy" thing that Entropy31 has been perpetrating on you all is in fact a carefully orchestrated ruse to somehow try and mask the fact that he is secretly shopping for a 280ZX!!!! Many clues that point to this fact can be unearthed simply by looking at the frequency and context of his posts in the 280ZX section of the forums.

that would be the one. not too bad, but enough little things to make me wary. i also noticed a slight rumble from the rear end around 2-3k rpm, and a very slight stumble at idle. and at that price i could get a decent TT. there was one up here (sold now ) with 36,000 original miles, and the original owner. had stillen stage 1 and r34 brake upgrade. guy wanted 12k. i wouldnt have been able to let myself drive that as a daily driver though, so i had to pass. i've only got room for 1 car right now.

riiiight. only reason i hang out in the 280zx forum is because you guys never post anything in the off topic section. nobody but the 280zx guys would have known about zchat if i hadnt done anything. i was considering the possibility of getting a 280zx, but the means have become availlable to get the z i really want. now i just have to find one that fits my overly picky criteria. rest assured that the next z i own will be a z32, although that does not rule out the possibility of a 280 at some point in the future.
