Huge Favour Needed
what is the distance between the front tires (outside edges) on a 300zx tt?? reason being i dont know if it will fit on a dolly i wanna tow it with...
hell would a 300zx even FIT on here im concerned due to it being so low that the ramps running under the car will hit the bottom due to car being short and low the angle that it would make to the road... http://www.uhaul.com/guide/towing-towdolly.jpg |
I wouldn't put it on a dolly. Rent a trailer.
|
cant i got nothing to pull it with...they wont rent a trailer unless the pulling load rating is like over 4000 pounds...
|
Then take a friend with you and drive it home. I don't trust those shitty little dollies.
|
last tiem we used one of those my bumper was missing the bottom half when we got home. don';t use it. just drive it at night or rent a flat bed. or trailer.
|
yea get a trailer
try to reason with them that you dont think that a dolly would work with the z's low stance or width i found a site that said the width was 70.5 in...i dont know where it was measured from tho |
How far is the distance you are traveling?
A flatbed tow truck would be more ideal otherwise you risk damaging the transmission if you don't disconnect the driveshaft. |
ill disconect the drive shaft and take bumpers off...pretty far...like i said cant get a flat bed and i cant drive it...
|
...you tow it from behind in a rear wheel drive car....
Listen, those are pretty safe things to use, just make sure its strapped down to the dolly. When my tranny died last year, we had to use one of those things to move my Z almost 100 miles, and that dolly was solid as a rock, although I won't say that there wernt a few times when it looked like the car would come flying off. I don't know about your dolly, but the fat ass of my Z could barely fit on there, but it did. Just strap it down very well, and tow it from behind, you dont want to strip your gears in either your differental or your tranny. You shouldn't have to disconnect your driveshaft or your bumper, as long as its done from the back of the car, but you might want to check out what do to w/ the steering wheel; I forget if we locked it or if we left it free...that would probably be something to consider... EDIT: Also, I'd try to get a few friends, like 4 or more, it takes some work to push a Z onto a dolly, and with it being such a tight fit, it will probably take a few times to get it right. |

well we got it here safe and sound...biggest issue was the clearance of the dolly at the ramp and the underneath the door where they met...so we hat to rig something up, strapped her down, and towed it here NO PROBS...car was nice and tight no trouble at all..i towed it by the front with the drive shaft off...i was gonna tow it by the back but the steering on the ground freaked me out alil...
this is where we had trouble..click on the pic... biggest problem was that my dads hitch was so low...that back of the dolly was pointing up...so we got a different hitch that was about 6" higher...which gave us alot of clearance.. |
i'm impressed that you did it from the front, I would think that ramp would be too much, looks like you pulled it off. good job
|
actualy if i went from the back...the front would drag on the ground....had to ...but yeah we got it here now tranny drop! yay
