Why not just buy a LS1-7 for 4-7k and have 400+hp N/A'd?

lol... if you're willing to swap out engines, put a better one in.

You're not going to make any friends around here making that statement. It's just an ignorant statement.

Eh well... it's not really ignorant, it's just an opinion. If you're going to butcher the originality of the car, why not spend less for more hp? This isn't anything wrong with this statement is there?

not in a z32... its plenty healthy with a VG30DETT.... it needs nothing different for a powerplant.

I was just using an LS1 as an example. What I really mean is any small block that's more powerful without turbo than the stock.

The 2006 Z06 Ls7 Goes For Close To 20k Now. So It Would Be Cheaper To Go With An Ls1 / 2 And Then Build It Up. Cheaper And Well Just Cheaper. But I Agree The Z32 Has To Have A Tt Or Vgdett Or A Rb26ett Even.

And switching the engine out for an engine that wasn't even included in the car's generation is sticking with originality? Thats all I'm saying. If you take out the engine and swap it for a completely different one, why even bother going through the trouble and expense? It's not the same, it never will be again. Right? I'm not saying that everyone should swap the engine out, I'm just saying if originality is lost, who cares anymore.

EDIT: Plus, why would you spend thousands modding a car to be super turbo, when you can spend less, on a higher performing engine? Hell even be easier on the engine itself. If I ever wanted to soup up my 280, I wouldn't turbo it, I'd change the engine, and if I was really dying for that much power, I'd turbo that thing.

And Skittle, it depends where you buy, LS7 is a bit much (Give it a few years), but there are good deals everywhere.

he still has the z32 engine in there, its just not the TT like its supposed to have. i dont know if you knew that or if it was just me reading your post wrong.

an LSX engine would be my first choice if another VG wasnt possible. but, either way, youer going to be spending thousands to have a high hp car. people choose different routes depending on their tastes. adding FI to an engine may be an easier and cheaper way than doing a lot of internal work for some people.

if all you want is reliability... dont mod ****... either get a turbo car and just maintain it well.. or an NA leave it and maintain it well....

and yeah... im sure swapping a V8 into a car thats made for a VG30DE(TT) is sooo much cheaper... you know.. rewiring everything to make it run all the custom fabricating to get the engin to fit in and sit healthily... matting a tranny and hoping it fits uner there with more custom mounting and then a custom driveshaft... unless your a fabrication genious you just paid soem one probably well over a thousand in materials and labor for doing this for you.... if it costs 2-3 hundred just to get an exhuast made up in an hour... imagine the cost of all that and it being gone for around a week....

just buy a car and leave it in the state it is meant to be in for now if all you need is reliability... end of story

where to start....

it IS alot cheaper to swap a v8 in for a vg30dett, the only thing i would worry about is engine to close to the radiator, the custom mounting is cheap and easy, the custom DS is about $300, and i dought you would spend more then $200 on materials, the exhaust any amateur could do in his garage for the price of metal, the only ting that would be a PITA would be the wiring..

you seriouslyover-estimate the price of fab work and materials, if you have a welder and some spare steel, you can make your own mounts..

putting in a plain small block will probably be cheaper than putting in a TT motor. more reliable too

too bad LS1s are so expensive
