Help is greatly appreciated.

just finished rebuilding my VG30DE installed engine today. Let me tell you it was a bitch getting back in! Anyway where the trouble comes in I hop in my seat push the clutch in and try to start.... I feel starter kick but nothing moves, I hear a loud kick every time and know battery has full charge from battery charger.
I jacked up car disconnected starter again and didn't see anything wrong, also the stud is fine but bolt is stripped. The final attempt to start I heard the bolt fall out, so I'm not sure if that would prevent engine from turning...... I've ran into many problems as you could imagine rebuilding one of these articulate beasts but this ones got me stumped.
like I said any help would be greatly appreciated, just a gear head looking for some help!
thanks again.

Welcome to ZDriver! Just a few Qs... Are you saying you hear/feel the starter engage something - but then it stops as if it doesn't have the strength to turn the engine over? If you hit the starter in 1st gear, does the car jerk?

Also, for the Z pros here, can you tell us more about your rebuild, i.e., what you actually did to the motor and why? That info helps the pros here who have been exactly where you are with their own Zs. It can get you a better answer fast. Thanks

what bolt fell out??? there are two that hold the starter on the bell housing. Missing one is not good. you need solid electrical connections to the starter for it work. it pulls a lot of amps when cranking.

I had bad piston rings, also changed valve seals. I did an OEM rebuild with all new gaskets and seals, block, heads, and pistons resurfaced and hot tanked. Everything torqued in sequence with new bolts.
the starter just doesn't seem to want to move the flywheel.
not the stud or the nut, the bolt on the bottom popped out.

From what I understand so far, two things I would do (just off the top of my head, like they say..) are:

1. Check battery's rated CCA (cold crank amps) vs. what is minimum CCA required by your Z32/FSM. If any doubt at all about your batt's age/output, borrow or buy one with CCA well ABOVE what your minimum reqmt is, charge that batt to its max, hook it up and crank it. Important, like roger said, make sure your batt cables & terminals are healthy, clean and solidly connected where they should be - per FSM. Zs do not like flaky electrical power supply.

2. Hand turn your flywheel (gently but firmly) to see if something is jammed up in there. If it feels like a jam, don't force it beyond that point.... You just located the problem...

There are Z32 pros here with more ideas. If the problem has a solution, they will know it. Great if you would post some pics here of your install... Can ya?

Hey, let us know what turns up with this... I hope you do not have to de-build for a jam-up Glued to my seat here, ridah.
