i would bet strongly that the problem is just a loose connection on the PTU or one of the coil packs or injectors. that seems to have been the problem every time my car has run rough. the price really isn't that bad as it is, but i don't think i'd pay quite that much. i might go as high as $1800 so long as i checked it out well and it had good compression and the like.

yeah i was thinking ptu or cas or something along those lines since they are right there when your changing the belts.

could be ALOT of stuff fickle motors these cars are, very possibly dead injector/s also, instead of triple posting you can edit your posts. i wouldnt get a Z32 with un-known problems. mine ran rough and it was from a dead cylinder only 90 psi on the compression guage

it's quite likely that you can check it easily when you go look at it though. wiggle the connections and see what happens. take some off and clean them. but make sure to tell the owner that you'll still only pay him X amount if you fix it right there.

low compression can be caused by bad timing as well. My car was running like crap about 2 weeks after I got it (several years ago). checked compression, it was **** in 3/6 cyls. Timing jumped 5 notches.
