good buy?
im 18 and im thinking of buying a 300zx non turbo automatic. my family mechanic that we have been going to for probably 18 years is selling it, because it was his wife's dad's and he died. it has 96000 miles on it and everything still looks brand new on the car. the fuel injectors and the timing belt were just replaced. he wants 3500 for it. does this sound like a good deal?
nasty nate do you have a friend named john with the mr2 ... and yea i bought a 300zx n/a automatic its a good car i got it for 3400 ..your gona get alot of haters saying its gay because its not a manual but i really dont care i love my car but i do want a manual one tho its mlore fun and better control ... but a good starting car i would jump on the offer
The price sounds reasonable for what you've described, but you should try to talk him down to $3000 on the basis that you can get a 1990 5 speed Twin Turbo for around $5000 nowadays.
And fuel injectors being replaced doesn't mean a damn thing on a 1990... if he didn't do the pintle-less retrofit, you're going to be replacing injectors annually until you do (you can thank our government's obsession with ethanol for this). Used pintle-less NA injectors and rail kits sell on TwinTurbo.NET (member's name is Bernie) for something like $500-$600, and it's a lot of work to install (or a lot of money if you pay someone).

Are the injectors on the Z32 that much different from what you get on say the older L28, and Z31 motors? Maybe the replacements I bought were pintleless? Anyway I replaced the injectors on my old 280ZX Turbo because they were leaking and after about 2 years I still had no problem with my injectors.
Yes. The design is COMPLETELY different, as is the way they are wired (which is half the problem - the early-style Z32 injectors are wired for constant voltage at all times, which contributes to oxidation when ethanol is added to the fuel).
thank you all for your input. no, i do not have a friend named john with an mr2. ill try to talk him down but i dont think there is much i can do. maybe next time they get replaced ill check into the pintle-less injectors. what makes them better than regular ones? and as far as addding a little power to it, i know there isnt much i can do since its an na automatic, but is there anything youd recommend besides a better intake/exhaust?
Do you have any experience with using factory q45 injectors as replacement TT injectors? I have a box filled with pintless q45 injectors that I would love to use as replacements for my sisters TT.
