I found out that my Z has a factory alarm, but when I try and arm it, the security light never comes on, and it just doesnt work, anyone know why or how to fix it?

mabye it is just the light. Did you try and set it off? Roll down a window, park you car, get out of the car and lock your doors. This arms the system. Wait 60secs then reach in the open window unlock the doors from the inside and open the door (simulates no-key break-in). If alarm works it is just the light.

If not, is your model a TT, if so does it have a turbo-timer installed?

 

I tried that... Any other suggestions. I went to the dealer to see if i could pump some free info from them (yeah right). They just said it would take about an hour to look at.... Im thinkin 75 bucks an hr labor!!? haha. so yeah, I dont want to do that but I want the alarm to work, that way i am alerted when i need to kill someone.

You don't say whether or not your central door locking still works. If it doesn't, this same set of circumstances drove me mad until I disassembled the driver's door to find a microswitch still attached to its wiring harness, but laying in the bottom of the door, rather than being attached to the door locking mechanism. I reattached it with a screw I found in the bottom of the door, and then had my central door locking and security system back on line. Hope this helps.

 

whats the central door locking?? Is that like the automatic locks when you lock the door, both sides lock or what?? let me know thanks

When you lock the driver's door with the key, or with the lock on the armrest inside the car, both doors are locked at the same time (or unlocked). Using the key in the driver's door also arms the security system when you lock the door.
