If he blows it up, I'm taking the turbos and most of the suspension for my S130

if he "blows it up" by the most common definition of the phrase telling that there will be internal breakage therefore grindage, the turbos will most likely be ruined by dirty oil. rebuild-able possibly. too tired to put a good sentance together lol.

Uh, not really.. lol

He's going to detonate the engine, which is going to crack piston ring landings. Those pieces will actually be held in by the ring itself (and the minuscule clearances between the piston and cylinder wall), and won't move until the piston is pulled out. Turbos would be just fine.

And any shards of oil that could do that kind of damage would a) be filtered by the *filter* b) stop the car from running before any oil could flow into the cartridges.

did you test fit the new pilot bushing on the nose shaft? pretty important thing there. they often have a bur or something and don't like to go on. or they like to go on one way and not the other.

if it happens to be slightly mis shapen then it is possible to install it incorrectly. i'm just going by what the very informative booklet of warnings that came with my clutch said.

Take two of the longer bolts and begin threading opposite sides (whichever bolt holes will reach). Tighten evenly until the trans is close enough to thread the proper bolts. Not a recommended method, but it works. And considering his hack mods, it's not like you're ruining the car or anything.

FYI, normally it's a bitch to get stabbed because the engine rocks forward so much without the weight of the trans holding it back. If you have the means to do so, you could try lifting the front of the engine to pivot it in the motor mounts. Hopefully from there, it'll be easier to get in.

What's sitting on the garage floor? You're going against recommendation and trying to get the trans onto the engine before installing the motor?

I wouldn't install it without the bushing.

Try painting hair around the hole

but seriously pull your pilot bushing out and slide it over the trans input shaft make sure it fits. If it doesn't mill it until it does. Remember to use the recommended grease when reinserting. I think it is lithium but check to make sure.

I'm betting someone used a hammer to insert the pilot bushing putting a tiny hitch in the giddyup which will keep the shaft from inserting. Yes the plastic centering tool will usually still fit still but the tranny shaft won't. Enjoy!

It's a bad idea to install without pilot bushing. It will cause premature failure of the clutch due to uneven wear.

The bushing fit over the shaft just fine and fit the tool too, then I tapped it in after I froze it with a rubber mallet and a block of wood. the tool went it just the same and it didnt look damaged.

Dumb question but which is easier to install? the pilot bushing or a Pilot bearing?

yup, i've seen it before

when you tapped it in you made it oblong, the hole, use a dremel tool and make the hole a bit bigger. or a drill press or a lathe or whatever. The inner diameter is too small, that is the problem.

the chinese symbols on your signature mean pale fox? or white fox or something like that?
