Appraise my car and win!

Appraise my car correctly and win my praise!

so my engine just blew, (i was driving and my car suddenly lost alot of power and made a "BUMP BUMP BUMP" noise when running). took it to a mechanic and he said one of the pistons broke or something, and a new engine in required. So i'm considering selling it as a non-running car, but I would like to know the value of the car before i seriously consider my options of selling or saving it for an engine swap.

1990 Black 2+2, clean title
Automatic
Tan interior (non leather)
185k Miles
(southern california)

Paint is still shiny, but has scratches like any other 14 year old car. the paint on the rear bumper is faded. The panel/fender around the driver's rear wheel seems to have had the paint damaged, and the previous owner painted it over with some commercial or household paint. its black, but it has lots of drip marks, etc.

The front bumper's lip has been broken off in the middle, alone with it went the underbody engine cover.

t-tops leak

interior looks very clean except for a) section of the driver's seat has major wear from getting in and out, b) there is one cut in the driver's door vinyl.

so please give me an estimate =). i will try to get pictures on this post, but i'm tryign to find someone to borrow it from.

thanks! -peter (petern_bghs@yahoo.com)

....if your lucky....you'd probably make more money by parting it out and selling everything off of it. Z parts can be pretty pricey sometimes.

i like that idea =)

but, a couple questions

a) how would i register the car with the dmv, would i need to register it at all? would it be the Planned Non-Operational? this is california by the wya.

b) after i've stripped the car to the bone, and need to get rid of it, i would have to get the car towed to the junk yard? would most junk yards take the car without fee or is there some fee to it? how would i move the car assuming i sell the wheels also?

well it depends on a junk yard. some will pay you to tow it away. just give them a call and don't let them lowball you, bc they will sell off your parts like gold. interior pieces like t-top shades and shift *****, rear cargo area cover are pretty pricey, not to mention headlights, t-tops,brakes. and i would be interested in your front calipers .So in parts you are probably looking at about 3-4k if you know what to sell
