Alternator troubles
Hello All,
I'm on my second purchased alternator within a 6 month period. The first one went out after AAmco rebuilt my transmission and did a louse job of tightening the tranny hoses to the radiator. That alternator was filled with tranny fluid. This second one had radiator fluid dripping on it from the lower hose. So number 3 is now in and I'm only seeing about 13.2 to 13.8 volts at full speed down the freeway. I thought 14.2 was the magic number here. Can anyone set me set me straight here. Thanks in advance for the help by the way the car is a 1993 300zx normal aspiration automatic

Was it previously getting 14v with the other alternators (yes, ~14.7v is the "magic number")?
I suggest taking the car to your local parts store and have them do an alternator / battery load test for free.
