91 turbo 5 speed won't start.

After getting the clutch replaced in my 1991 turbo I could not get the car to keep running. I replaced the fuel pump and filter thinking that might be the issue but it continued. I then bypassed the fuel pump control module and it ran, while I was taking it for a test drive how ever it suddenly died. It now will not start it cranks over but doesn't fire up. The fuel gauge froze in place where it was when it died if that helps any one think of what it might be.

Welcome to ZDriver! If you don't have your factory service manual (FSM) yet, you can DL a freebie at XenonZ32.com Reference There are other good docs there too.

I guess you have been through the FSM and checked out all the troubleshooting steps laid out for specific issues. If not, you should start there.

I'm a Z31 guy so I will leave your Z32 issues for the Z32 pros here. Seems to me that with the work you have been doing, there could be a number of causes for the current problems. Guys here will need as much info as you can give them to help you find the issue. So I suggest you add to your post more facts about the car: mileage, any mods to date, etc., as much info as you can.

Off the top of my head, your initial problem sounds to me like bad (or no) sensor input(s) to your ECU - which then causes other issues. Maybe you can begin by locating your sensors, checking them out with a multi-meter or some other reading - and giving the Z32 guys what you found. No doubt your sensors will be involved in the solution(s).

I have taken the car to a mechanic and they said CAS and timing belt were fine. I replaced the PTU with no change, still not getting spark. I have read a couple other stories about others having a similar issue where car stops running and has no spark after a fuel pump change. Fuel pump is working and I am getting fuel past the filter.

The ECU is reading out a code 21 (Ignition circut error) But I am not sure what else it could be. Is there something on the fuel pump aperture that would cause a short in the elec system, and thus also the source of the fuel gauge not working properly? Anything else that could be done fairly easy (I am not a good mechanic and not allowed to do work on cars at home) before I sell it?

Thanks for any tips.
