Please search. In the 18+ years of the existence of the Z32, this is the number one most frequently asked question.

btw, it's VG30DETT

It's not a dumb question, but it's been answered thousands of times before between all the forums. Searching "TT swap" here gives 392 results, and searching "TT swap" on twinturbo.net gives 1177 results and times out because there are too many threads on the subject.

reading the continuous thread on here labeled, "how to make the N/A faster", is your first step toward admitting that it's not worth it.

What are you talking about? Modding an NA isn't worth it, converting to TT is. Yeah, it's cheaper to buy a TT, but if you have a clean NA there's no reason not to convert. Additionally, there aren't any stock 2+2 TT's in the states... so if he likes the limo-look, he has no choice.

true ^^^^ but how to make the NA faster is also title mass swap something thread and includes the TT into an NA option. also, theres no such thing as stupid questions, just stupid people just playing. and hasnt the Z32 technically been around for more like 19 years? released in 89 no?

Doesn't 19 years fit into 18+?

And I said 18+ because it's been in the States (where most of these forums are based) since late 1989 (which is 18 years and a handful of months), so the questions about swapping motors have only been in the states for that long.

Technically, it is 19+ because it was in Europe and Japan since 1989... but American's wouldn't ask about swapping motors in cars they don't have access to.

actually, i doubt the question came up much in the early '90s. i would be surprised if many people ran down to the dealer and bought a brand new NA, just to say "hey, now i want to swap in a motor from another brand new car".

I wanted to be thorough in my statement, but yes you're right.

However, if the tuner scene of today existed in 1990, I am sure there would be people buying NA's to drop TT motors in them. But back then, modding imports wasn't the big thing so it probably didn't come up.

I'll rephrase to shut everybody up. "In the 10 years since TwinTurbo.net/com existed, the question has been asked and answered thousands of times"

yeah nobody wanted to spend $35k on a new z32 only to spend another $20k on a new TT swap.

Also the reason I want a 2+2 is because I have 2 small kids and need the 2 extra seats.

What we could tell you is that it's all been laid out very clearly. This quote right here should have been able to guide you to the answer:

still, IMHO, it's not worth it, unless one, you are dying for a good long and challenging project, or two, you really want to get that extra little bit of performance capabilties and the 2+0 doesn't handle well enough for you. niether applies to me, so i say it's not worth it. not with my income level any way. (lol that's about 70 +- a week)

Direct bolt on is not really the right question, but the only thing that is not present on the N/A chassis that needs to be welded into place are the tabs on the upper radiator support for the inter-cooler piping...

and the tabs on the lower radiator support to hold the TT radiator...

Everything else will bolt right on.

I've seen two Z32 2+2 TT swaps in Washington.

I did a turbo swap on a 280ZX 2+2 ...and took my kid around in that car.

I was thinking of buying a 300ZX Twin Turbo and doing a 4-door swap on it from a Maxima... do you think this is a direct bolt-on?
