1996 z32 cat delete/EGR delete

I know this question has been asked but I can not seem to find a good answer. I have a 1996 300 zx, want to do a cat delete, what can I do with bank 2 O2 sensors? I have been told that you can put sensors in test pipes and not get a light, or just delete all together and not get a light. Does anyone have personal experience? Also EGR delete? Will it set off a light? Thanks for any help

Welcome to ZDriver!

Since it's a 96, it has OBDII, which requires O2 sensors after the cat. If you remove the cat, you will get a CEL (trouble code). There may be a trick to get your CEL to turn off, but from a quick Google search, it sounds like quite the hassle... and the trade off is either live with the CEL on and not pass smog, or spoof the O2 signal and run rich / lean. Your choice.

You didn't say whether you have a TT or N/A, but this is a good / funny read on Z32 test pipes: No cats or high flow? : 300ZX (Z32) General

I use to work at an exhaust shop. I remember a guy bringing a last generation trans am in and having us cut the cats and weld some threaded sockets to the pipes. He had a set of what he called dumby O2's. We installed them and no CEL.

He explained the way they work is they send a signal to the computer telling the computer everything is ok regardless if it is or not.

Idk if they make anything like this for the Z or not. I doubt the name he used is the actual name either. Also I wouldn't know how much to trust this kind of set up on a Forced Induction motor.

As for the EGR delete, I'm not sure if it would turn on a CEL. I did mine with no light, but of course it's a '90 model.
