is $15,250 too much for a 1991 Z32 TT with 66,445 miles?

I'm planning on buying a white 1991 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo with 66,445 original miles. I test drove the car yesterday and it still makes boost and drives very smooth. The interior is pretty clean and the leather on the seats is almost in mint condition. I'm still hesistant to drive away with it though because of the $15,250 price tag. Is this too much for a 1991 300ZX? Kelly Blue Book value for the car in excellent condition fully loaded is around $10,000. I think $15,250 is pushing it.

I bought a NA for 8000 the guy was selling it for 10k which ithought was high because of what kelly blue book value was. However the car ad a couple of upgrades Intake and Exaust and a nice stereo I bought it. You can definately talk him down I would say 13 is a fair offer!

1993 300ZX NA
Stillen Intake
Stillen cat back
New Tires
Suspension and 60k maintenance coming soon!

Oh and make sure the 60k maintenance was done on your car or else you have an additional cost after you purchase the vehicle!

These cars getting to the point where they are extremely difficlut to find in good shape with low miles. The car could go for a premium price. I still think it is a bit high.

My 1990 TT, was 2 owner, garage kept, custom black leather... and mint condition... everything checked out through 3 mechanics shops... few minor mods and it's been ridden soft... i only paid 7000 @ 116k miles. Course the guy lost his job, wife, and had custody of his 3 kids and mortgage... so i think ig ot lucky since hte KBB was 7300 :-/

No real tellin but i think 15k is a bit high. I've bought and sold lots of used cars (although none import)... and typically 2k off the sticker (if it's on a lot) is pretty standard.

Man you guys don't shop around long enough. It took me 2 months to find the Z that I like at the right price. I paid $6,300 for my 90TT with 74K miles. It came with a JWT POP charger & JWT ecu. The car runs strong but it needs some minor cosmetic work. Just be patient and look around for the best reasonable price.

yea, that seems too expensive for a z. I purchased a 1994 TT for $2,000. I am going to replace it with a jspec and it also needs some minor body work.

I hate posts like this. I have multiple views on this subject though

1. The car is worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you can pay the $15k and drive away happy, then it's worth it. If you think you'll hand over the money and end up regretting it, then don't buy it.

2. KBB retail value of our cars SUCKS. Don't use it as a guide to buying sports car, ever. It's best for sedans, economy cars, and suvs. The Z32 is a collectable, and is therefore worth more than KBB value.

3. What are you guys (the Z owners who responded) thinking by saying it's worth less than $15k? That's why the retail value of our cars sucks right now! If the Z owners selling their cars would start asking for more, and the Z community agreed it was a good price, the value of the car would rise and it'd become easier to sell our cars at a higher price. Selling the cars for $5000 is the reason KBB thinks our cars are only worth that. I think the car is definately worth $15k. It was closer to $40k when it was new, and IMO the year of a car should make no difference on the price (where KBB and I disagree). It should be based on condition and mileage. If the car was garaged directly after purchase, had 10 miles on it (which is less than some BRAND NEW cars), and was 15 years old, the "retail" value would be considered maybe $20k at BEST... I think it's still worth nearly what the owner paid for it, assuming it was run occasionally to keep oil flowing through the engine.

In conclusion, if you don't think this car is worth $15k, move on. Don't talk him down that much, because you're just hurting the retail value of the Z32 by doing that. (I think not haggling is a dumb was to buy a car, but don't expect $5k off his asking price). Not that I ever intend to sell my car, but it would feel good to know that the retail value of my car was still decent. And unfortunately, we don't have a Hollywood movie featuring a 300ZX to drive up our values, so we have to do it ourselves.

Also, I keep seeing these BEAT UP POS 300ZX's (3 in the past 2 days, NO joke) because I know these kids are getting the cars (all non turbos btw) for $3k-$5k and not taking care of them. If they pay more for the car, they're more likely to take better care of it.

I paid 8 bucks for my TT w/ only 69k miles. The guy wanted $10 for it but all I had was $28 bucks in my wallet when I saw his 4sale sign. I didn't want to break my twenty........If you got a TT for $6,300 w/ less than 75K, make sure you don't get the title wet. It's probable written in crayon.
Alright to be serious, unless you find a guy who is selling his TT to support his crack addiction, you're very rarely going to get one under blue book. There was a new guy who posted here just yesterday about a stock 93 TT w/ under 50K for 13,500 OBO. That sound like a very good deal to me. They always go for more than that on ebay w/ a lot more miles.

As someone currently shopping for a Z32TT, I find this thread very interesting. The price ranges I have seen so far have no real rhyme or reason to them. I see guys asking butt-tons of money for beat up hi mileage cars, while other guys seem to be asking too little for nice examples. In all, it's very hard to find one that isn't trashed, or has not been wrecked, or has not been neglected maintenance wise. I'll find the right car eventually but I'm beeing patient this time. When I bought my last Z, I paid way too much for it. I've got about 15K into a car that I might be able to sell for 3.5K if I'm lucky. That's how it goes though. It's only worth it... if it's woth it to you.

I agree with zlover on this. I mean it was nice for me to be able to get such a great deal on both of my Z's, but I do wish that the car was respected more...and that it reflected in the price of the car.

This thread could go on for awhile......

There is alot of opinions to be offered here. Personally, After shopping around for almost two months. I bought my 91TT w/ 80k for $4100. But I got very lucky and caught the car on first day of advertising, in a situation that the previous owner had more money than he had sense. He really did not know what he had.

As for the Question, is a primo Z32 worth 15 Big Ones or not. YES! IT IS!.... IF the car is like I said "primo" condition. By this I mean, mint Interior, original paint that still sparkles and of course MACHANICALLY MAINTAINED. No wrecks in its past and does not leak a DRIP of oil or any other fluid.

As for me.... I would NEVER pay that much for a stock Z32...... I would say that You should be able to find a VERY nice Z32TT for no more that 10 Grande'. Depending on how far you are willing to travel.

I was lucky to get it that low and the previous owner is not a guy so figure that out. The tittle is clean and I had it CARFAX everything checkout. Like I said before if your patient enough you will find a good selling price. Don't just buy it when you see it stick to your budget. When I was stationed in Kansas (I was in the Army) four years ago. I bought a 94 MKIVTT w/56K miles on it for 14K. The owner is a farmer and live in a small town. He purchase the car for his wife. Now how many hillbilly's do you think know about imports. I sold the car for 26K in 2003. Patient is a virtue
