yokohama, or kumho's?

im begining to need new tires and the kumho's that came with the car made the car handly friggin great, so after i shreaded the rear kumho's from doing a MASSIVE burnout at school i swapped them out with a set of Yokohama AVS ES100's wich also handled just as good, but theres almost no rain and temps only go below 40* about twice a year and just wanted some opinions on tires with atleast a "AA" rating.

I take it you mean massive power brake? :armata_PDT_03:

hoov100 06-04-2006 10:30 PM

burnout, power brake, basicly the same thing, these car put on one hell of a smoke show though.

entropy31 06-05-2006 12:13 AM

go yoko. i have heard of lots of kumhos having sidewall bubbles.

hoov100 06-05-2006 09:02 AM

going with yoko's plus it will compliment my yoko stick on the rear glass.

silvrhand 06-05-2006 01:45 PM

potenza RE750/S03 = the shiznit IMHO.

Yokohamas are a good brand of tire. I'd recommend them.
Kumho's are way cheap and the tire wear is horrid. I'd never recommend them unless you really wanna replace them again next year.

i agree with silvrhand here i got them and they rock. the tread wear though, ugh, grippy very however under hard driving or bad camber/alignment expect them to be close to worthless in 6months to a year. at nearly $200 a piece.

nka04a 06-06-2006 11:33 AM

Go with yoke's.

z-hag 06-06-2006 01:58 PM

i have kumho on the turbo and yoko's on the n/a--kumhos suk. yoko's stick. i will put yokos on my AE, for certain.

JoeyBagODonutZ 06-06-2006 02:57 PM

I was pretty skeptical of yoko's nearly 6 month's ago when I got them, but no so much now. Ever since I had to pass an oncoming car in the left lane because he had hydroed into my lane. The yoko's didn't skip a beat.

z-hag 06-06-2006 03:43 PM

cross a yokohama with a hoosier tire--get hooziermama

silvrhand 06-06-2006 04:00 PM

The RE750 isn't that bad for price, the S03 is very pricey. I dont' do but 10k a year if that on my car so they last me 1.5-2 years a set. If you do have bad camber though you'll go through them pretty quickly, but you can't beat their performance/price/noise.

I'm with the others who say Bridgestone Potenza's... they're the only daily driver tires I'll buy anymore.

Re-Tiring

I researched all brands and one came up consistently:

Bridgestone RE750

I have had mine for 2 years and love 'em. They handle well, price was $128. each, wear is excellent, and they stick like glue in the rain.

You don't see many cars on race tracks with Kumhos on them.

(And where the hell did they get that NAME?!)

I forgot to mention... RE ebay performance parts:

I bought a complete intake system on ebay for my 300ZX for only $50. It has highly polished tubing, all the hardware needed, looks great and was easy to install. I noticed a slight improvement in throttle response, and it seems to have just a tad more power. Ebay is like anything else... you have to know what you are getting, and use your head.
