New tires n suspension for me =)

Just ordered my new 225/50WR16 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S tires, KYB Adjustable Shocks and Eibach Springs from TireRack. So my car will finally have new legs and shoes! :p
Yay! I'm so happy! :D
I'll provide pics of parts when they arrive and i'll do a bit of a writeup for the install.

CanyonCarver 07-12-2005 05:10 PM

Awesome....... so the Eibachs are the 3/4" lowering springs? It's amazing to me how lowering the car such a small amount transforms the look into a cooler hot rod. :D

b300z 07-13-2005 09:19 AM

wow rizz finally bought something for his z!!!!
what are you going to do about the camber correction?

bardabe 07-13-2005 09:38 AM

hey will The Tein "2" drop keep my car daily driveable?

you'll need to do a realignment bardabe.
Also gonna hafta get adjustable upper A arms for the camber correction, which i'll hafta do down the line somewhere as well.

Got my stuff today. :D
i got one blurry pic.....stupid camera.

CanyonCarver 07-13-2005 12:05 PM

Looks like RIZZ, has an early xmas. Even tho it cost money, it's SOOOOO much fun to open the stuff up, eh.

Bardabe, Fact, I helped a friend put coilovers on his Z last weekend. We intially lowered his car 1" from stock. By the time he drove it a ways and everything settled in, the car was about 2" lower than stock. His frame would hit the ground when he went over bumps. I don't think you wanna go down 2"......

91zxtt 07-13-2005 09:55 PM

Gee....I wish it was that easy to convince my girlfriend that certain things she does is assinine. Whenever I tell her that one of her plans won't work, she gets a headache and I get to sleep on the couch. :(

you just gotta gently remind her who's house it is.
and by gently i mean put your foot in your mouth and by who's house it is i mean remember that the couch is yours too. ;)

Btw, Big ups to my man Luke@TireRack. He got everything in place for my order and 98% of it arrived next day. :) Of course, Tire Rack is in IN and i'm in a suburb of Chicago so it's not that far but he still had great customer service. He even called me back when i left a message.

Pays to have a comfy couch. Congrats on the purchase Rizz. I wish I could buy stuff for my Z, but having a wife, kid, and retarded bills = No fun stuff for the Z. :(

I had to kinda take apart the WHOLE interior.
GD stupid inbred designed, non-sensical, finger eating rear shocks!

DanZ32 08-01-2005 05:46 AM

Good work Rizz!

Riz Z Speed 08-01-2005 06:00 PM

Hopefully this weekend i'll get my new tires on finally.
I SO need to get them outta my living room. LOL

b300z 08-02-2005 09:18 AM

nice work rizz!!!
are you gonna do a writeup on it?
would i even need a writeup to do this or is it pretty easy to figure out?
i think i might try this week cuz i am bored and waiting for my clutch to get in

Riz Z Speed 08-02-2005 10:08 AM

That's the writeup i followed.
You'll need someone else to help you. You can either use the wood as illustrated in the writeup or you can get someone preferably heavy to stand on the suspension. You'll need a spring compressor or you can compress the spring by hand. That's what i did and had my friend thread the top nut onto the shock.

he has those amazing admin powers. :D

b300z 08-02-2005 12:31 PM

thamn a little harder than i thought

what all did you replace when you put in the new shocks and springs?
i just added up all the parts(excluding shocks and springs) listed on the write up and it came to a grand total of over $350

Riz Z Speed 08-02-2005 01:16 PM

Honestly, I just reused mostly everything that wasn't included in with the shocks and springs.
You might wanna get the gaskets. Mine were totally non-existent. The rubber insulators were in fine shape, dirty, but in fine shape so I reused them. Bump stops were solid and not damaged, i reused them as well. Dust boots were totally shredded and unusable, i didnot replace them. Although i prolly shoulda now that i think about it. oh well.
Just Take note of how everything goes together and you'll be fine for the most part.
Have some WD-40 or Liquid Wrench equivalent on hand. I used the WD40 for cleaning and Liquid Wrench for breaking stuff loose.

As for compressing the springs by hand, it isn't that difficult if you have a helper. Since i used new Eibach springs, they're much shorter than the stock springs and only have to be compressed 1-2". from there you can then tighten the top nut with wrench/ratchet/impact gun.

Just Take note

lol....... I priced those dust boots when I did mine. Nissan dealer wanted like $35 each. I said BS. What I did was cut up a used motorcycle inner tube. Back wheel tube size 4.50-18. Then I stretched the pieces over the rubber bump stops. Looks kinda funky being a little curved as they are, but considering the environment I drive in, I need to keep all of the dust out that I can. Nobody has ever noticed them yet.
