emptied my wallet

Today I ordered Tokico HP struts, Ebiach pro lowering springs, (turns out the guy that sold me the car lied to me, I have stock worn out springs) and front adjustable control arms. With the control arms do I have to buy the tension rods too? and do I still need the rear adjustable control arms? and can I do this all myself. I have done suspension on a Ford Taures SHO so I have some knowledge of how to do it.

I know the front adj. wassn't nessary but my car has been in an accedent and the camber is off caz of that.

front adjustable upper A Arms should be coupled with new tension rods at the same time, save your bushings.
The installation you could do yourself. The alignment i'd suggest you take to a shop.

Without solid tension rods you will wreck the bearings in your control arms.

You will likely need adj control arms in the rear as well.

nka04a 11-29-2005 09:48 PM

what tension rods do you guys recomend?

91zxtt 11-29-2005 09:55 PM

When it comes to suspension, you can never go wrong with SPL.

That's what I have.

no you won't..... camber isn't an issue in the rear with the eibach kit....

nka04a 11-30-2005 06:41 AM

I hope its not. It would be great if its not then I wont go above my budget. Do you have any problems with tire wear on the rear napoleonzheking?

napoleonzheking 11-30-2005 08:25 AM

No, the front was horrible till I got the camber compensation kit on (I just used the 300 degree) and got an alignment though.

nka04a 11-30-2005 09:56 AM

Anyone else on the fourm have the eibach springs??? I want to know if you have tire wear on the rear without the adj. rear control arms. The reason im doing this is I just got new tires and they have already worn past the tread on the inside on the front and I dont want the rear to be an issue also.

napoleonzheking 11-30-2005 10:13 AM

Trust me the rear isn't an issue. if it was, then the 300 degree kit (made specifically for the eibach springs) would come with stuff for the rear, but it doesn't.... I have new tires too, and after about 3000 miles, they still look brand new on the rear no lie.

91zxtt 11-30-2005 07:32 PM

That's odd....I have the eibach and camber is an issue in the rear. The factory adjustability is limited at best in the rear. That's why I'm putting on the adj. rear control arms. Trust me.

Humm we have 2 diff. opinions now im just confused I guess I could always do it and if the cambers off when I get it aligned Ill have to buy them.

Well some good news. I got my front upper arms today  . they look small in the pics but they are huge! Here are some pics

Riz Z Speed 12-01-2005 01:35 PM

who'd you buy those from and how much Nka?

nka04a 12-01-2005 02:54 PM

I got them from ebay, member named roc_ilan and paid about $280 for them after shipping and he sent them next day.

nka04a 12-02-2005 10:00 AM

not to change the subject but I don't think very many ppl read the suspension fourms.

91zxtt 12-03-2005 03:55 PM

Most people are more concerned about trying to make their cars go faster in a straight line and they often forget that handleing is what will make a bigger difference on the track.

The down side of putting the springs on, then adding the camber adjustment is that there will be duplicate labor involved by doing that.

The down side of putting the camber arms on before is you will always wonder if you will really need them. I say you will and I say that confidently. Without the adjustable arms, you may be able to get the car to where a shop will tell you it's close enough, but you'll always be running more negative camber than you should.

thanks man. Look what I got in the mail today! Only thing is is donno what goes on the front and the back. The Numbers on the springs are 151661 and 141975 and also 6319.102 and 6319.101. could some one tell me what goes on the rear and the front? thanks.

napoleonzheking 12-04-2005 03:58 AM

I'm pretty sure they're all the same.. if not, then I messed up hardcore, but the car seemed to do fine at hallett with the mess up... :) :). I didn't know either and I tried to compare them and they all looked the same to me.... So I just went with it.

Well I searched and couldn't find any individual part numbers for the front and rear. iirc, the rears have the significantly smaller coil on one end of the spring......... Either way just match the new coils with the ones you remove from the car. The difference from fronts to rears will be obvious.

Riz Z Speed 12-04-2005 08:45 AM

i do believe that the .101 go on the front and the .102's go on the back.

91zxtt 12-04-2005 06:49 PM

You'll be able to see which ones go where once you remove the factory shock assemblies. There's a noticeable difference between the fronts and the rears.

napoleonzheking 12-04-2005 07:39 PM

aparently I'm an idiot.. lol

nka04a 12-05-2005 02:46 PM

Just got my struts. its almost complete all I need now are the tension rods and strut mounts and ill be ready. Then after christmas im going to get the upper control arms for the rear. Oh I also called Eibach to find out what goes on the front and rear...... The 6319.001 go on the front and the 6319.102 go opn the rear. So Riz was right.

napoleonzheking 12-09-2005 11:20 AM

Now we just need to factor suspension in tostage charts :)

91zxtt 12-10-2005 10:46 AM

Rizz did it a while ago. I think he made a sticky for it. CC and I assisted with the various stages.
