Brake Rotors (Slotted or Drilled or both)

I was inquiring at my local auto store sold slotted and drilled rotors. He said they do, but to get Slotted for day to day driving, because in the rain if you have drilled rotors they will crack and break. is this true.

I realize the benefits of having drilled, and i really like the way they look. Is it better to just go with Slotted or normal.

I bought slotted/x-drilled mainly cuz I got a good deal on'em. There has been some x-drilled rotors that have been known to crack. But my ? is, how long did they have them prior to the cracking? Were they auto crossing? Or generally really hard/abusive on their brakes? I've known ppl that have close to 60k on their slotted/x-drilled rotors and still no probs. So, it depends on who you chose to listen to, I guess. If this helps, Porshce's come stock with x-drilled rotors now. Slotted will shorten the lifespan of the pad though. The slots create a new friction area on every pass, so that the pads won't glaze/fade under hard braking. Buy what you can afford or would like style wise. I just suggest that whatever rotor you get, don't forget the high performance brake pads. They're more important than whatever style rotor you get.

If you'd like some more info on brakes...

Check out this here fancy schmancy website!!

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/

Go to the automotive section then click on Q&A. This is the same information included with all the brake pads that they sell.

Quite the informative read IMO.
