Spoiler ?
Iv been wanting to replace my craked out worn out thrid break light for a while. I finaly got hooked up with a good job and I was looking around and liked this spoiler... http://www.z1motorsports.com/images/Teinstechcar2.jpg I was wondering how does it mount? would I have to drill holes or does it go on with douple stick tape, or apoxy? and where can I get one?

that's the OEM 90-93 turbo spoiler, it bolts on and uses 3M double stick tape
however, Nissan doesn't make them anymore look down a few posts for "90-93 replica wing" or look at ionicdynamics.com they're both replicas of that spoiler |
Someone was having a group buy on the replica wings I think. If you hurry you might be able to still get in on it. Search TT.net, and this site, i can't remember where I saw it at....

that's the post that I referenced (a few posts down this page it was linked over from tt.net).

id go for that replica, it looked just like oem. [drool]
|
id go look at ebay

and you'd be disappointed when you never find an OEM 90-93 spoiler on eBay... And besides, putting an actual OEM spoiler on the car is still (in my honest opinion) only a temporary fix. They will all rott out sooner or later and that's all there is to it. Fiberglass and fiber-reinforced plastic are superior to the foam-like material of the stock spoiler. If you can get any of the aftermarket ones to fit properly (which is the only issue thus far), then the aftermarket ones will last much longer than the stock one.

Can't you just fiberglass over your old rotten one??

yeah, but fitment issues, I think a resin coat would work too. Makes it hard as hell and sealed for life, and you know it fits perfect
|
so are you saying if you fiberglass over an apple in the way you're talking, it'll never rott?
Fitment isn't something that can't be overcome with the fiberglass replicas... just get one, get a body shop to fit it properly, and you'll never have to worry about it again. You'd spend WAY too much time and money resurrecting the rott-prone stock 90-93 spoiler. |
a quart of resin is like 10 bucks at autozone, the catalist is like 5 bucks, a stir stick and paint brush, follow the directions, mix it, put it on, let it harden and sand it down smoth and if you have dips or anything, just do it again, a little primer and some gloss or flat paint. And WALLA !! And yes I am saying that the apple would never rot. Have you ever seen the little scorpions or flowers that they sell in cased in plastic. They never rot and fiberglass resign is very similar to plastic polamers. So maybe 30 bucks and a hour or two, versus ordering one and then the body shop fees is way cheaper and better.
