The HIDs are On.

It was a very warm day today so at lunch time I decided to install the HIDs. See the pics for yourself. They lighting is definitely way more bright than the OEM's. However, the light pattern is sub par - I can see the dark areas caused by "light shadows" as the patters criss-cross between the left and right lamps. Also notice that the retrofit doesn't show the characteristic inverted "L" of OEM HIDs. I drove around a few streets tonight and no one flashed me. So I suppose I'm not bothering oncoming traffic. My guess is that the retrofit is fine. I think the issue is that the design of the OEM lens doesn't allow the HID beam to scatter like OEM non-HID would. Just like NismoPick said - we get what we pay for!!! I'll ride as is because I see a lot better with these on. I have 8000K bulbs and would try them on just for looks!!!

Before HID Install (Bimmer on left, Z32 on right). I'm standing, maybe 8-10 feet from both cars

After HID Install - the Z gets much brighter, and actually mimmicks the Bimmer.

Z on Left (note how better sharply defined the Bimmer's pattern is)

Closer Shot - the Ghostly bluish pattern on far right is from the Z's lights - the scatter goes that far right!!

cool looks great!

Your results are typical.

Though judging from the comparison, you could adjust the Z headlights up just a bit.

That's good to hear. The headlights are aimed correctly per Maryland requirements and I actually see great when driving.

Well here's mine for comparison, I'm only talking a couple inches up at the current distance...

See what you mean Barry. I'll raise mine up a few inches.

Also, I took my pics standing outside. I wonder if that'll make any difference at all. I assume that your garage door is the standard door, thus we can use the lower slats as reference.

you'd get better range if you aimed them up just a tiny bit. looking good though.

Yes, with the car about 25 feet from the door, bring the low side cut-off to, or just above, the lowest break/hinge.

I put HIDS in a while ago, they always look so good.
