Which fan are u refering too? There are three fans that i know of on these cars? There is one that is mounted in front of your a/c condensor and is automatic, it comes on whenever u turn a/c on or if the engine temp reacts 105 defrees C. I know b/c my dumbass had my fingers in it workin on it when my TT's engine temp reacted that temp. The otherfan is mechanical, it is the one hooked to ur water pump and runs full time. Your last fan is the one on the inside of the cabin, its the one that pushes around the air on the inside of ur car. I m not sure if i understood which one ur referring too, let me know which one it actually is.

If your talking about those slats in the housing of the map lights then that is the Cabin Temp sensor for the A/C but there is no fan inside the cabin other than the A/C, heater blower.

that's the temp sensor for the auto climate controls
if it's making noise just lubricate the fan with some all purpose household oil.
not wd-40, won't last long enough and you'll hafta do it again when it dries up.

yeah, everyone should have a bottle of 3 in 1. that stuff is great, my skateboard bearings were froze nearly solid, i put a little 3 in 1 on them and spun them a bit and they were almost like new. and it doesnt evaporate quick like wd 40, keeps em lubricated.
