Help Installing Clear Tails
Damn I could not figure this out and almost broke it once I got the tail light out of the car and tried cracking it open to get at the yellow lense. Hopefully someone has a proceedure for me and can give me some advice on the replacement before I damage it!!!
Thanks in advance

Re: Help Installing Clear Tails
Well, you can modify the stock taillights to look like fairlady taillights by just simply buying a kit that you can get at ultimatez.com or ebay-autotrader.com. Some people go to home depot and get the lenses but that is not as great quality and you are better off getting the kit. As far as installation it sounds and looks fairly easy. I have not done it to my taillights yet but I have used the process on other cars such as clearing out headlights and other taillights. Let me know how it goes.

Re: Help Installing Clear Tails
Thanks for the advice I'll try the heat.
speedemonzx is right, its not hard to take apart the assembly to get the light housing out of the car but its just getting into the lenses that are the problem. I broke my driverside (slightly) from trying to pry it open. and now am looking for a new one!
Be REALLY CAUTIOUS!! and take your time, it didn't take much pressure at all to break mine.

Re: Help Installing Clear Tails
whatcha mean....why do you have to change the lenses? im not exactly familiar with these types of headlights..
on my eclipse, putting euro/altezza tails on was as simple as unscrewing some bolts, taking out the tails, and puttiing the new ones in, which bolted right up....are 300zx's not like this??

Re: Help Installing Clear Tails
There are 2 ways to get the yellow tail lights cleared. What we were talking about here, the cheaper way, is to open up the housing and just replace the yellow plastic lenses, the other much more expensive method is to buy the complete fairlady lights. They do look better but also cost considerably more $.
BTW I found an awsome site that has the details on the process documented with pictures! Too bad I already cracked mine! Maybe I should just buy the fairlady lights from Zdriver.com??

Re: Help Installing Clear Tails
Dan..
Thanks for filling me in...the process of clearing your own tails looks very messy and complicated for a dumb kid like me = )
I'll probabaly just bite the bullet and buy the fairlady tails..theres something about the red lense color, or something thats looks cool..too bad JDM stuff cost so freakin much $360 for the left, right, and middle piece...and then there's shipping..almost $400 for a set of J-spec fairlady tails...Wow, we must be enthusiast to even consider this = )
