broken antenna

Hey, my antenna on my '93 300zx goes up when I turn on the stereo, but when I turn it off, the antenna goes down, but when 8-10 inches are left, it will slow down and make a noise and then at like 3-5 inches before it goes down, it stops. Is it the motor that is messed up, or just the antenna???

The mast is broken inside the antenna about 8"-10" from the top. It's common. It's fairly inexpensive and fairly easy to fix. If you can't get it from a local autoparts store, then you can get it from the dealer without getting ripped off too bad.

which part won't come out?
The motor or the old antenna mast?
if it's the motor look to make sure you have all the nuts and bolts removed that hold it in place.
If it's the mast you can't remove it by hand or just pulling on it. You have to remove the whole assembly from it's location, then while it's still powered(hooked up to the car) turn the radio on. Doing this should cause the motor to turn on and try and dispell the mast from the motor assembly. At that point while the motor is pushing you should be pulling on it. That should free the broken mast from the motor and allow you to install the new mast by reversing these steps.
