1996 N/A 2+2 Seat Replacements/Fix
I'm buying a 1996 300ZX N/A 2+2 that has a trashed driver's seat. The rear support is broken on both sides and causes it to sink to the floor when you sit in it. If I replace one/both seats I need them to be cloth and closely resemble the color of the interior (dark grey/charcoal).
1. I live in Chicago, IL. 2. Anyone know where I can get either original or after-market seats that are worth the $? 3. What hardware might/would I need to install aftemarket seats what company has them? 4. I've priced it to be fixed by a local shop and they want $200 just to R2 the seat and weld the piece back together. Absurd in my opinion. Anyone have tips on getting them fixed? I found some racing-style seats on eBay for $50 a pair with $140 shipping but I'm not sure what they'll sit like and if they're crappy. I sat in one 300ZX where the guy put the "Nizmo" brand racing seats in it and it sat way too low--I didn't like it. I want to retain a similar seat height as the original. My original driver seat is power but I really don't care about the power features. I think the original passenger seat is manual. The eBay ad mentions something about getting the hardware from some other product manufacturer but I was unable to locate what I need, and even be sure what I needed to begin with. Here is a link to the eBay seats I've found so far: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT |

My Z32 cloth seats were originally stock blue, but I dyed them black.

pulled seat, here's what I found
I took the seat out and repaired the rear frame member that was broken. Now it doesn't sag to the floor when you sit in it. What I couldn't figure out was why the rear right lift feature was not fully working. It's not the switch because when I press "up" the rear left goes up leaving the rear right all the way down. Well, I guess it could be the switch but would think if it went bad it wouldn't go up on either side---do you know? It's as if the motor-to-bracket link on that side is broken or something? I couldn't see any defects with it. Anyone have this happen and/or fix it?
