Tranny not shifting

I'll try to make this short and sweet. My '84ZXT has been having trouble losing fluid. I think the modulator might be bad and I'm going to replace it pronto. However now it won't shift out of 2nd unless i really stomp on the gas. It also has that cool little switch where the shift patterns change and the gears will stay engaged when letting off the gas. Well, I checked that switch and it was in the off position, but stayed in 2nd. I even toggled the switch a few times to be sure it wasn't stuck. Yes, I checked the fluid and added some before my test drive this evening. My wife discovered this "new" problem. Any help would be immensley appreciated !!!!!!!! Thanks----Lynn

Ok....since no one had any advice for me.....my Z is now parked at an AAMCO awaiting a complete tranny rebuild. Let's cross our fingers and hope that this is $1500 well spent.
BIG plus.....this shop is a member of the Z club of Dallas.

OUCH! Don't have an automatic. So I was clueless. I just bought a tranny though. Gonna go finish puttin it in today. So I fell you about tranny problems. Except mine didn't go.... Not that it wouldnt' shift. haha. Although if you could have gotten here to Abilene, I could have gotton a good transmission for $50 for an auto.

That's cool.....the tranny had over 150,000 miles on it anyway. The good thing is that this particular shop is a member of Z Club Of Texas (ZCOT) and does a lot of work for them......I guess I need to cough up the $40 bucks and become a member to get my 20% off!!!!
