tps wiring help
I had a auto and did 5 speed swap! Its a 85zxt! There is 2 tps wires and does 1 go in the top slot of the sensor and the other wire go in the middle slot? Or does the second wire go into the 3rd bottom slot on the tps sensor?

Ok, from searching I found out im not for sure but 84 85 z31 used 2 wires newer z s like 87-89 used 3 wires especially on their autos. I found out that the middle wire is the ground. I think the top slot and wire is the idle and the 85zxt doesn't really have a full throttle. Its just open and closed. Its like a switch in away but u can still adjust it if youre crusing and u feel like ur cars gas is going on and off it probably needs adjustment! I also plugged in my 2 wires one in the middle and then I took the one from the top slot and put it in the bottom, started the car and it ran like poop afrs all over the place idling all funky, then I took the wire from the bottom and put it back to the top slot how it should be and it idles normal. So the answer to my question is on a 85zxt the needs a wire to the top terminal and one to the middle, the bottom is left alone, have a good day and happy z driving.:icon_super:

My TPS was dead SO i took off and unplugged it and runs fine.. idles slightly high. 1100rpms But IT works. lol

Removing the TPS will let your engine idle, but slowing down might be a problem as it suppose to tell the ECU the throttle is closed.

Tps
A TPS has 2 switches in it, one that is closed at Idle, and the other that closes at FOT, the ECU really needs this info, and it's not a part that your car should run without.

just leans it out at idle to save fuel
