Relay location... and more stuff...

Hey guys... ok... first:

1. Where is the fuel pump relay located?
2. Anyone know how to bridge/jump the relay manually (temporarily make it work w/out the relay installed? I did this once on a chevy using a paper clip)
3. What do you think of the following scenario?

The guy who owned the car before me replaced the batery cables on the car backwards (black was pos. Red was Neg). I had the battery out and put it back in the way it appeared it should have gone in (red to pos and black to neg). There was a loud boiling sound and smoke came out of the box that held the fusable links. The bat. fusable link was nearly melted through. Now my car acts as if the fuel pump doesn't work. I replaced the fusable link and no change. When I turn the key you can hear the motor turning but no firing. I'm thinking i've either fried the fuel pump relay, the wiring to the fuel pump, or the computer. What do you think?

hooking up a battery backwards can do pretty much all of the above. I dont want to put you completely out of hope though. if you want to bypass the fuel pump relay then wire the fuel pump directly to the "ON" position of the ignition switch. You can find an existing wire and just tap into it. Just make sure the battery is hooked up correctly before you try it :p

have you checked your ECM fuse in the fuse box. My car does the same thing when that blows. Engine turns over but no fire.

Are you still using the same battery? The relays for the fuel pump should be above the passenger headlight.

Same thing happened to me... I jumped my car off, when I applied the cables to the other car, my riding budy (he's into music and has no idea how to do anything car oriented) placed the cables on in reverse :075: . No shit, right? Fried the battery... and when the battery was replaced, the car ran just like before. Just try it, it has to be done anyway if you ever want your Z to function properly
