Please Help

Ok, I have a problem. When I started my 84 na this morning it kinda stumbled when I first started it, it didn't want to idle. After feathering the throttle for a minute or two it idled fine. So I let it warm up for about ten - fifteen minutes and when I go to take off it dies. Every time I hit the throttle even a little bit it dies. I cant even get the car to move. I have never had this problem before. Last night when I drove it, it ran fine. It has all new vaccum lines, I put a new fuel filter on and it didn't help. I tested the fuel pressure at idle and its fine, the fuel pump sounds like its working fine, so I'm stumped. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your connection on the MAS Air Flow meter. Make sure it is plugged in good and making good connection.

check the TPS amd run the codes, if your really up for it you could also convert to the 87+ EFI system and have a bit less trouble.

Question Has Anyone Mentioned The Codes???

I believe hoov100 said "run the codes." Good advice because otherwise you are just guessing...

So I ran the codes and it came up with 12, which is maf sensor or the wiring for it. So I cleaned the plug again and it didnt help. Luckily I just happened to have a maf sensor from an 85 turbo z31, so I tried it and now it runs fine. The maf sensor from the turbo car should be fine on the na car... right? Also, the ecu came up with a code number 23, but the paper I have doesnt show a code 23, does anyone know what this could be?

As far as I'm aware the MAF is the same from all year Z31s Turbo or non-turbo.

The page I have says code 43 is the tps. http://z31.com/oboard/archives/view.pl?151 And thanks again for everyone's help. Nevermind, on the page I have its saying 23 is the idle switch, I already knew that was going bad.

wow. i didn't believe that the turbo and N/A MAF would be the same so i looked it up and sure enough, Z31 MAF is for all models. i don't see how that can work. i guess stock boost is pretty low for them though.

just for future reference, the 87+ ECU's have different codes then the earlier ones, i tried using a FSM from a 85t on my 88t and the codes where completely off.
