oil cooler blues

Can some one give me suggestions, I have a 85zxt and need to move the oil cooler I see the ones on ebay that attach to under the oil filter but what would I do, block off my stock lines, or get one of the 60 dollar cheapos that looks like it some what attaches to your stock oil cooler lines. I don't know if you have to cut your copper lines with hack saw with the cheapo ones or not! Man guess how much for the stock oil cooler from a Nissan dealer ship 800 bucks!!!!! crazy aint it

eh? You would remove the stock oil cooler adapter & lines... you don't "cut" anything.

Ok I thought I heard a rumour that we cant block off our stock oil cooler lines because of the way the oil flows, so I didn't think I could use one with the oil filter adapter if its safe to block it off I would love to do it! And I thought it was hard to find the cooler cause our fittings are goofy sizes!

I have the same problem wit 87T. So what do you do with ol stuff???

ThoBackZ,

Not sure if you read through those links... but I suggest doing so. You either need to adapt the stock lines (banjo connections and compression fittings) to work with the new cooler, or just buy an aftermarket sandwich plate and lines. What needs to be done depends on what you want and how you want to do it. :080:

Thx for the info but I wondering what is done with the line coming out of the block where the old line come out? Because the new oil filter adapter has sending and return on it. So do you plug the in and out on the block?

You remove it and use the one from the oil cooler kit. The sandwich plate mounts where the oil fiter would normally screw in:

So you take off the stock sandwich plate that bolts to the block and put on the one that come with the kit.
