No plug for pumping in gear oil to the transmission

ok, well my haynes manual has procedures for changing the oil in the manual transmission for my 86na but guess what, it doesn't say anything about there not being a place to put the oil!

Yes there is a drain plug. You're looking on the wrong side. It's on the drivers side, up above the exhaust pipe. On the borg warner ones it's on the passenger side (and easier to get to).

It's royal pain to get to so I usually pull the shifter boot, the rubber boots under it (the ones with the metal ring that actually hold the rubber to the tranny tunnel), and the boot that seals dirt from getting in where the shifter goes into the transmission, and fill it from there. Have some large tie-wraps to refasten the lowest boot though, but unless it's been replaced, it's probably already torn (in other words be prepared to buy a new one). Takes a long time doing it this way (takes it a while for it to drain down into the transmission from there) but waaaay easier then getting to the @$%#$% fill plug. Just look up capacity (I forget what it is) and don't overfill it.
