n/a performance parts

I'm looking for exhuast manifolds for my 87 n/a pacesetters seems to have a nice set for 315$ but what I'm wondering is if there will be any real performance gain?
Becuase even with a good set of headers wont the exhuast still be restricred by the piping that connects them together? or do you think this part would also be included with the headers,or do you guys think one would have to be made?

I've startin to have some cash laying around,so I figure I might as well put it to good use.

thanks guys..

those headers will run from your exhaust ports to the cat. there is no crossover pipe to worry about.

N/A Performance. Isn't that one of those "oximorons"?

Don't waste your time, or your money. With this cammed, mildly ported, stripped down, tuned exhaust beast, with the pathy intake, I could only put down 161hp to the pavement. It ain't worth it. Just drive it until you've accumulated enough paesos to boost it. Then you'll see measurable gains.

My built N/A

My dyno sheet with this same engine

I don't want to go turbo on my daily driver, mainly becuase I know if I were to drop a turbo setup on it,I would be driving ALOT faster just becuase my car can,and I also dont want to spend a real whole lot on my dail driver, mainly beucase it has about 300,000 miles on it and don't wanna risk it with boost. I also have my project car to work on.
I'm not looking to make major #'s on the dyon on my n/a I just want a little more scoot,
I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of headers, tuned exhuast, pathy intake,a little bigger injectors, cams (not sure what lift or duration),a jwt ecu,and maybe a few small other things.

These two things completely contradict each other.

BTW: Just adding a turbo can easily cost less than the above listed mods. And would give you a little more scoot.

But I cant just drop on a turbo,I'd also need ecu,and the rods and pistons from my 88t.I guess I just want bolt ons, becuase since this is my only driveable car,I dont want to tear it down much, and have to worry about running into problems.
I'd rather just do simple things at the moment to get a little more scoot.
Thanks for the input though it's much appreciated.

You really should do more research.

You don't need to replace the pistons and rods. Where did you read that?

Exhaust manifolds bolt on easier than headers.

Everything else you've mentioned is the same degree of difficulty.

Oximoron smartass . According to the Chilton repair manual a stock non turbo 300zx has 160 horses.

Yes
Yes
No

9:1 is not a bad CR for a turbo

You really need to do better research.
You could have already had that thing turboed for the price of gaskets,
once the 88 was tore down.

The 88 is coming along great,I'm almost about 1/4 of the way, done getting the left rear trailing arm ready to accept and actuator for the four wheel steering system Ill start a progress thread here soon with pics.

The turbo that came out of my 88 is shot,I'm not 100%sure what happened,
but they guy I bought it from said it had a bad turbo, and upon removal, the were signs that the intake end of the cartridge had been scrapping on the housing. There were metal scraps in the intake manifold but i never found any in the cylinders or heads.
The guy let me hear the car before I bought it.It sounded fine ,but I took his word for it and removed the turbo, thank god I did

Wich is part of the reason I want to stay n/a.I dont want to spend all the parts neccesary to harness the power I could get from a turbo.
pluz theres the learning factor.Probably about 95% of everything I know about, building engines is based on turbo engines.I only know so much when it comes to performance tuning a n/a.
so im hopingto learn as I go.

Thanks Alot for the info though guys, its much appreciated.

Rising Sun Engines might still have a few "NEW" Nissan turbo short blocks left. $900.00 I just got a new short and rebuilt head "longblock" shipped for $1,750.00 So I've got zero miles on this and I'm sure my performance will go up.
